lol... yes.. that is exactly what I was implying. That Chuck consciously in his unconscious state turned to his side.

I was implying that had Chuck just been knocked on his ass or back out cold like Wanderlei vs. Hendo last year or Wandy vs. Jardine or Wandy (lol, I am only thinking of Wanderlei fights I guess) vs. Sakuraba, it wouldn't have seemed as brutal.

But when a guy gets hit and ends up falling face first, it looks so much worse. (i.e. Vovchanchyn vs. Bueno or Jardine vs. Houston).. It looks so rough.

Who else has been KO'd in UFC recently that was down for several minutes? Only ones that come to mind are Evans/Salmon, Sylvia/Telligman and... yup, you guessed it and those were all a while back.
Evans/Salmon was in 2007 ... not really that far back... Gonzaga/Cro Cop was 2007... Both of which were worse. Another devasting KO last year would be McFedries over Jordan. Terry Martin getting KO'd by Vitor back in July was pretty damn sick. There was one head kick KO in the IFL last year (or earlier this year) that crumbled the guy.

Mirko wasn't up for several minutes, neither was Salmon (carried out on a stretcher, TWICE), neither was Johnnie Morton (carried out on a stretcher), neither was Jardine vs. Wandy (hell, he went to the hospital for the night). Fighters, when they are completely out, don't get woken up 1, 2, 3....

Most shocking KO in years? Sure, next to Cro Cop vs. Gonzaga... most devasting? no...

P.S. This isn't a UFC poll, this is an MMA poll. It isn't just about who was KO'd bad in the UFC, but in MMA.

Thing is Steve is a bad Ass MF you don't want to mess with him, and that is what happens when you get into that level of Fighting. I saw a guy take a cane and Split Steves head open and Steve kick the living shit out of him after it. People don't get it and that is one of the reasons I hate Pro-Wrasslin Fan Boys.

Looks like Rashads getting that title shot and its only right. Rashad def earned him self a lot more respect with that victory hes putting people on notice that he is no slouch
Not the most viscous ever, but definitely up there with Crocop getting KO'd by Gonzaga (that was a dark day). I also agree with your statement about it being worse than anything chuck has ever done.
Chuck was going to get a title shot if he would have pulled the victory so I believe it is only fair for Rashad to get his chance. Machida definitely deserves the next title shot (he should actually be first in line before Chuck or Rashad, but his time will come).

imo i think the best KO is when either Gray Maynard knocked himself out whille KOing Emerson with that slam.. or i think the one i like even more is Melvin knocking Gabe Rudiger out with that body punch... that was sickk

How's that? When guys get laid out like Silva did vs. Hendo not only do they get KTFO but they also get the whiplash effect of their heads crashing to the canvas which only makes the KO more devastating. And 'seeming' as brutal and being are two different things... as has been said looks are deceiving. :P

Things in the MMA world happen quickly... while it's only a year's time there's been plenty of brutal KO's in that time and Evans/Liddell stands out... in sort of the same way Cro Cop/Gonzaga did: straight up brutal and the fact that the guys who got KTFO were KTFO w/ what they usually KO guys w/... also makes it that much better.

It may have slipped my mind momentarily that this wasn't just a UFC poll... but that's b/c it was such a brutal knockout! Also you may be forgetting that it's not necessarily the most 'brutal' but the 'best KO'.

Most shocking maybe not the most brutal i agree with most of the other KO's mention especially quarry but the knock out that stands out to me was when Pulver knocked out i think John Lewis with an over hand left and stiffened the guy up i think that was one of the first knock outs that i cringed at and went "that was was awesome but i hope the dudes alright" I still remember that pop sound it made when it connected.

Never saw Rashad Knocking Chucky out hell before this i really thought Rashad was lacking KO power in his hands. I won't get that wrong again.

Gonzga on CC was worse. (Maybe because I watched the CC one live and the Liddell one later on tape.) Either way both were brutal, but I had trouble sleeping after the CC one.

Another honourable mention would be Pulver on Lewis (not the worse but maybe in the top 20). Lewis is not out cold but watching him squirm after was brutal. Not a one punch knock out, but the elbow ko by Pat Smith vrs Morris was also pretty bad. Maybe Liddell is lucky he went out cold instead of rolling around after like the 2 formentioned fighters.
