Anderson Silva Says He Will Not Fight Paulo Filho

Anderson Silva has told TATAME that there is no chance that he will fight his friend Paulo Filho:


“I would never fight with Paulão. We train together, we’re always helping each other and (Josuel) Distak is our coach. There’s no chance to happen. People can complain, scream, whatever, but it won’t happen”, said the UFC middleweight champion.


With rumors of Filho making his way to the UFC eventually when Zuffa merges the WEC and UFC, many had hoped to see a middleweight clash between two of the top 3 middleweights in the world but now that appears highly unlikely.

So Anderson Silva won't fight Paulo Filho OR Machida...kinda lame I guess.

However, the bottom line is that money talks. Put a contract with a payout with a good number of 0's in it and he'll sing a different tune.

i think that if paulo filho wont fight in the middleweight division, he should move to welterweight and either get an immediate shot with gsp or fight winner of diego sanchez and thiago alves, imo he takes gsp.

IMO, Filho will be in the exact same boat as everyone else in the middleweight division ( if he could fight Silva). That being he can't beat the top 2 guys.

I have no idea if Franklin is staying at 205 or what, but he would beat Filho senseless. I would say it would be like the Franklin / Loiseau fight, except I don't think Filho could last five rounds.

I agree, and I get the feeling that Sonnen will probably beat Filho when they fight again.

I find Filho to be highly overrated and I don't think that he'll be undefeated for much longer. He has looked very subpar in his last few fights. And he won't be the best grappler at 185 anymore with Demian Maia at 185.
