Default What I learned from UFC 88

1) I have to stop doubting Rashad. Rampage didn't even KO Chuck that badly... It was the same abhorrent feeling I got after watching Gonz kick Cro-Cop's head off last year. Rashad can be a competitor and I sincerely apologize for ever doubting him.

2) The Zuffa curse strikes again. Chuck-Forrest = Gone. Chuck-Wandy Triolgy = Wishful thinking. What's next for Chuck? Loser of Jardine-Vera?

3) I learned that Rich Franklin can still dominate mid-tier competitors 15 lbs ahead of him. He should probably stay at 205, but he looked a little loose. more muscle+speed next time. Where will he go? No idea

4) Nate Marquardt should be nicknamed "Nasty" He owned a striker brutally on his feet today, and has looked unstoppable against everyone but Silva... and himself.

5) Hendo should go back to 205.

6) Palhares should still get a top-tier challenger in his next match. Who's Almeida fighting next? anyone know? Winner takes Maia... I hope.

7) Whether or not he's as tough (no pun intended) as he was made out to be on the show, Matt Brown does have a huge heart. he earned my respect tonight

8) Kim is scary... even with no gas left in the tank. Don't know why he gassed so quickly, but he took Brown's back several times throughout the fight. With a bit more work... who knows where he goes.

9) Fuck Karo's back. I hope Yoshida got paid something.

10) Why the spotlight on Big Boi and total ignoring of Rampage?... at least before the Chuck KO

I think a lot of people got that feeling.

I know I did.

Yes. Crocop got "Crocopped" (except RHK) and Chuck got "Chucked" (?) or "Liddelled" (Strong Right).

To answer question #6 Matt Horowich was on the MMA Live panel on HDNET and indicated his debut fight in the UFC will be Ricardo Almeida....Also, I agree with your first point. Initially, when Rashad knocked Chuck out I thought it was a lucky punch. Then I realized I was just being biased because I dont like Rashad. Rashad executed the perfect plan as Chuck does not do well against counter punchers. It wasn't lucky and I will never count him out.

Sorry I meant to say Inside MMA on HDNET. Got it mixed up with the ESPN Show.

I wonder if Evans is improving at that fast of a rate or if this is just another example of MMAmath not working when you consider their one common opponent. Hell maybe Bisping could actually take Franklin.

Lol. Good man. Only I think Rashad stands a better chance at being champ than GG does.

It's weird isn't it?

He looked fast to me. Maybe Rich/Chuck now?

Nate was fuckin awesome last night. I expected him to win, but not like that.

Then Rich/Hendo? lol WAR Hendo anyway.

Hell, I'd like to see him fight Maia now. But the Almeida fight makes sense since both are coming off losses. Paul Harris (thank you Goldie) looked a lot better in th striking game than I thought he would. I think he threw Hendo a little with all the unorthodox kicks. I'd be in BJJ heaven to see him fight Almeida or Maia- Maia being the best of the three imo.

He's Matt motherfuckin Brown! lol He impressed me last night, but he was fighting a judoka (albeit a badass one), and I think he gets sub'd by someone with better BJJ. Yes judo has locks and sub, etc., but it's just not the same when translating to MMA.

Stun Gun!

For real. It would have made the night that much more exciting to see those two throw each other on their heads. How does someone hut their back the day before the fight??? Too bad.

Franklin would own Liddell, imho. It would be an awesome fight to see though.

What I learn never put money on MMA fights, I was 4-5 picking Hamil, Palhares, kapman, well at least I got the Evans fight right.
