Default Rampage Ultimately Fighting Chase Charges

Quote:
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is refusing to back down from the law over that whole insane monster truck chase -- despite all the cops, the pictures and the witnesses.

The UFC champ just pleaded not guilty to felony counts of evading police, hit-and-run and reckless driving. Rampage was busted back in July after barreling down an O.C. freeway in a monster truck (with his photo on the side), hitting two cars and terrorizing pedestrians in the process.

Bail was posted with $25K bond. He could face three years in prison if convicted, and he'll be back November 3.

Good luck Rampage

Rampage needs to STFU and let this shit blow over. He also needs to take a look in the mirror and think about who he wants to be in life.

I still can't believe he did all this shit while driving a big ass truck with his face all over it.

Dumbass.

Im pretty sure he isnt gonna fight the charges he is just trying to get all his lawyers in on it first. After the lawyers do the talking and the best plea deal he can get is offered he will plead either guilty or no contest to some of the charges.

This is actually very smart cuz the DA will likely drop many of the charges to get him to plead to 1 or 2 of them and then they just have to work out how much time he will get.

After all is said and done I bet he gets about 3-6 months with 5 years probation.

On a side note, could you imagine his PO telling him he cant have energy drinks and gets piss-tested for guarana every 2 weeks.....lol

I'd say that it is a smart move. Temporary insanity and/or lack of mens rea.

If I were Rampage I wouldn't plea to even a misdemeanor; I would plea to a bunch of violations and a big fine and community service.

I agree. He can plead not guilty for the time being until all the documentation can be reviewed by his lawyers. A change of plea is always possible. Does anybody know if insanity applies to any crime above a misdemeanor? If it does it explains the numerous excuses.

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - An attorney for former mixed martial arts champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson said Thursday her client was delusional when he led police on a chase and struck several cars last month.

Jackson, a light heavyweight, pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony counts of evading a peace officer, evading a peace officer against traffic and misdemeanor hit-and-run and reckless driving. He is free on $25,000 bail.

Attorney Carol Lavacot said the 30-year-old fighter was betrayed by a close friend and hadn't slept for three days before the July 15 incident. Lavacot would only say that the betrayal was about finances.

During the episode, Lavacot said, Jackson believed if he fell asleep he would die and kept himself awake with energy drinks. She said he also believed that he had to get to another friend's house to save him from dying and was on his way there when he hit several cars and police began chasing him.

just a little more information about what is going on with this whole situation. its a damn shame that Rampage took everything so hard. but its clear that it really was something mental that had triggered these events as it appears that everything is getting back to normal to an extent and rampage is taking all the time he needs.

you can use the defense of proclaiming insanity or lack of mental state for any crime i believe. you see this a lot in terms of murder cases and the like. at least im pretty sure if i remember correctly from my CJ class. thats when a bunch of psych tests are done to see if you really don't have said capacity. and the docs did find that rampage was suffereing "brief reactive psychosis" due to the issue with his trainer. so as far fetched as it may sound rampage could theoretically get off as a result
