According to the Croation News site Dnevnik.hr, Mirko Filipović will be fighting September 23rd against Alistair Overeem. DREAM has confirmed the report.
"For ‘Cro Cop’ this will be his first fight after five months and a victory against Mizuno. He has fully recuperated from knee surgery that caused him to miss two fights this summer.
However, Cro Cop is ready and confident of victory. Previously, only to the New TV, said that his objectives are to capture the belt in Dream, and hopefully a possible fight in December - with Fedor."

This is definitely good news for 'Cro Cop' fans as many rumors of late from other fighters stated he was unwilling to take several fights offered to him in DREAM.

I hope to god we get to see the pre-UFC Cro-Cop. This will be a good fight, and hopefully a win will mean a Fedor Rematch!

I will believe this fight will happen, when i read the results or actaully see the fight. I love watching Dream/Pride they have/had great fighters and fights in the past BUT they always announce fights what seems like only a few days from the event and its retarded. Its likely because they dont have exclusive rights too their fighters and what not but its hard for me to take Dream serious when no one excatly knows who the hell is going to be fighting on the card. I realize injuries and other factors occur however as a fan of mma, i think the card should be set and annouced for at least 2 months leading up to the event. This way if a fan wants to watch or has interest in watching they know all the fighters who will be fighting, not learn 3 days before who is competing against Jacare and find out its some ametuer wrestler no one has heard of. sorry for the rant.
With Overeem talking smack, this is a match up that makes sense. This is a fight i think either fighter can take. Overeem like his brother, will fold if Cro Cop hurts him early however Overeem is looking about as good as i have ever seen him and if the Cro Cop of 2007 shows up than i think Overeem can take the win. Seems like a good striking fight but either one could likely shoot for the takedown and gnp and this would lead to a win for either fighter imo even if either one could finish.

Face it Mirko, your not fighting Fedor again in December.
You lost 2 in a row, then beat a shit can, an you think a win over Overeem will get you a fight with Fedor.
I guess Gabe's kick fucked you up more then we really knew.
I hope Overeem fucks Mirko up, just for the point that he is already thinking much past his next fight.

I hope cro cop gets back to at least 3/4's of what he used to be but like dimson said it probably false hope. I still think cro cop takes this i just really dislike overeem to much talk comes out of his mouth and it seems he has always been this way.
If overeem takes out cro cop it will big a bigger win for him then the other way around imo. even though it could just prove cc's best day are way behind him and he should step away from the sport.
overeem is getting his wish by talking trash. (edit) can't argue with results though

dude can you really blame him for trying to get that fight? Their first fight was like the biggest HW fight of all times.
All he said was that he's hoping to fight Fedor in December. and if I remember correctly Fedor said he'd probably be down.
Does he deserve it? no. did Tim deserve it? He was coming off a loss so I think the answer is no. Did Hong Man Choi Deserve to fight Fedor? fuck no. Half the people Fedor fought didnt deserve to fight him.
so he wants to fight Fedor, big deal. Crocop is still huge in Japan and this would be a big money fight.
Its all about the benjamins
