There could be many different opinions on the quality of Hughes competition but he has fought everybody placed in front of him. I for one think he's fought some of the toughest out there. He is even stating that he is thinking of fighting Silva! (which I hope he decides not to do!) Like it or not, Hughes has well deserved respect from many people associated with MMA.

Jagman reply
[quote=Jagman]This thread is ridiculous for numerous reasons.
Jagman, I couldn't have said it better myself. Bottom line is Hughes has beaten everyone he has faced. Even the greats such as Liddel and Couture have had their share of losses. Hughes, like Liddel, has avenged his loss to Penn. What do you expect the guy to do? I thought the spanking of Tito in the Couture fight was behind cocky and down right disrepectful. Nobody seemed to mind that type of behavior. I believe it is true that Americans love to build up a hero so they can tear them down. Matt has been virtually unstoppable the last couple years and people are waiting for him to fail.
Look, so what if BJ had him in an armbar; can't we give Matt the utmost credit for being able to hang on long enough and not tap? I mean, anyone else would have more than likely tapped. Matt has the skills to defend and sustain a submission. He did the same thing against Trigg in the second fight when Trigg had him in a rear naked choke. I think Matt just speaks his mind and people don't like it. He has proven that you better know how to lock on a submission or you will burn your energy trying. As far a BJ cracking a rib, he did it during the fight!!! If I break my hand on someone's face while fighting and then I lose; it's my fault I threw the punch inaccurately and I can't say that I would have won but I broke my hand. BJ cracked his rib because he was using all his strength to submit Matt and he had his body contorted in a very weird way. BJ should take responsibility for his loss because it was the combination of him putting his body in weird positions and Matt's power and will not to tap that messed his rib up. Matt has been the most consistent champion in UFC history and he deserves all the credit in the world.

I would have read all of your post, but after seeing this line I didn't think it would be worth it...

Well, sorry you feel that way but I am just stating the facts. I guess I don't really understand why people dislike the man so much. The reasons I have heard in this thread don't really have much to do with Matt at all.

You are not stating facts. I'm not sure what the word for the opposite of facts is though - wrongs? antifacts? Dunno, but that's what you were stating there.

Fiction, is the word bro.
BTW Matt is a redneck jock which makes his personality sort of lack, and I mute his intro music because honestly Country music sucks ... but he is still one of my favorite fighters and therefore I "like" him in that regard.
People get so emotionally involved with their fighters, I just want to see them fight. Also don't judge by their on-screen persona, I am sure Tito Ortiz is probably pretty cool IRL and I like to watch him fight because he brings it.

Its gonna be funny seeing him laying in the center of the octagon unconscious next month. Beat by a 'Canadian in a streetfight' no less.

Okay, whatever the case may be, I have read a few of your other posts on different threads and it's obvious that you have a very biased opinion when it comes to talking about MMA. You don't like Matt; so you won't give him credit for being a great champion. Regardless if I dislike someone, if they are good, they are good. BJ is a great fighter and he clearly is the only fighter to date that I can say that is the closest to having Matts number. If Penn beats Matt, my hats off to him. Maybe I've missed some interviews with Hughes or something but I don't see where the "Jerk" is at.
On another note, I'm just curious why so many people are wanting GSP to beat Matt? I'm sure in Canada, pretty much all canadians are behind GSP. I could just be a little more patriotic since I'm in the Air Force but it's just natural for me to route for the Americans, no matter the sport. I know in MMA, it is a very diverse sport with tons of nationalities, but what has GSP done to have so many Americans on his bandwagon?

It's his personality, he's a twat that has a god complex. He thinks everyone else should respect him and he doesn't need to show it back. I'm glad he beat B.J. (also a twat) but I hope to god GSP kicks his ass.
