Joachim Hansen Clarification Of His Previous Statement.
Source
Quote:
Joachim “Hellboy” Hansen upset many North American MMA fans with his recent comments. Here’s what Hansen orignally said (from InTheGuard.tv):
“I would fight anyone of the UFC light weights, but the problem is that I will never put my foot in the octagon after they (UFC) tried to be funny, I would rather have bleeding hemroids than fight for the UFC.”
“The Japanese MMA audience is the best in the world. They make magic! I would rather have one true Japanese MMA supporter than one million fake mainstream supporters that will turn their back on you as soon as you lose a fight.”
Hansen, realising the nature and offense his comments might have caused, contacted InTheGuard.tv and elaborated with this statement:
“Many people in America were offended by my answers in the interview. (I heard) they felt some of my answers where racially negative, and I didn’t mean that. If the loyal supporters are American/Brazilian/Japanese or what ever ethnic back ground, I don’t care, as long as they love MMA and metal [laughs]. I have a lot of different MMA supporters from different races that I talk to. So, I hope this will clear that up! Thanks for all. I would rather have one real, doesn’t matter the country or planet you come from (laughs), MMA supporter than 1.0000000000000000 + infinity fake ones.”
He also took another moment to remind fans of his feelings towards the UFC:
“I will never fight in the UFC. I would prefer have my testicles kicked in by a horse full of steroids.”

Im sure with Dana Whites connections in Vegas, that could happen pretty easily. They could even do it on PPV. Id watch it.

Well he is certainly outspoken in his hate of Dana and the UFC and i still think he generally dislikes american fans (race i do not think has anything to do with it) which is fine. Thats his opinion and he just comes across like a an ass
I think just like all sports in america you have an abundance of fair weather fans and a cross section of the fan base is true die hard fans that know there stuff and a don't care if you lose two fights in a row and still follow the guy.
Hell i'm a chicago bears fan(through the wanstadt/Jauron era) who goes to training camp and as many games as possible and never miss a game on tv. i know all about the fair weather fans switching allegiance when the team falls on hard times. It comes with the territory of being a popular sport in america.
I think he is a great fighter to watch but could care less what this guy thinks of american fans but i bet if affliction came a knocking with a bunch of cash he would have no problem taking our money and then bashing us if we were to boo him during his fight.
No doubt mma fans in japan are different the whole society in japan was built on honor and not showing their emotions of course there is gonna be a vast difference between us. (edit) i'm not trying to say i know how the japanese culture has developed over time or slighting them with emotion comment just trying to show the difference between the cultures as a whole

Good points. I always thought the UFC was a niche market while programs like Pride can be appreciated by any fan of the sport. Like you said, the traditional values of Asian people are the most basic ones like honor and respect and chivalry. Maybe more interesting than strange, knights in the medieval ages had the same unwritten rules as the samurai. Thanks for taking the time to get detailed in the discussion also.

So what is the problem.
I remember when i seen the offer UFC gave him, it was more then his pride offer. It wasn't much more but i remember it being more then he made for his last pride fight.
So to me it seems he thinks he is worth more money then he really is.
Or maybe it has nothing to do with money.
But it would be nice if he said what the problem is instead of saying dumb shit over an over.

I can almost guarantee that if he makes it to the UFC after running off at the mouth, his offer won't be as good as it was after the UFC/Pride merge

I would be willing to bet that he will never fight in the UFC. He has burned bridges without even fighting for them.
Hey i want to fight for you Mr. White
Well as soon as you let me find a horse on steriods to kick you in the balls, you can fight for us.

i said in another thread regarding his original comments (probably should have posted this in that thread) and I said I had lost some respect for him, but now I have lost total respect for the guy. He went out of his way to dis basically the top dog in the mma business world. Hansen's a fucking idiot.

I honestly thought that is what Joachim meant in the first place. I didn't think he was trashing real fans, just bandwagon hoppers...
