A baseball team getting blown out is far less likely to make a spectacular comeback. In MMA everything can change with one punch, or one move.
Also, this is a little different, as this is Matt Hughes weight class and it is the champion and the challenger, so in addition to being kind of rude to the fighters involved, it is kind of like saying that the competition, and ultimately the sport, are not that important to him. That is a fine example to set for someone who was supposed to be an ambassador of the sport.
I think that the UFC gives their high profile fighters those good seats so they can show them supporting their fellow fighters and their organization. To leave early to "beat traffic" because you "weren't impressed"? That is kind of a slap in the face to the organization, the fighters, and the fans.
So what Hughes is saying to the fans is, I don't really care about the sport, or my weight class. Then to go on record and say it?
And that is why all personal feelings aside, I think this makes Matt look like a D-bag.

I don't understand what the argument here is with some people... Matt Hughes IS a dickhead. Whether your a fan or not, you have AMPLE evidence to support that. Whether it be his dealings with Serra (who could also be seen as a dick), Timmah, Miletich and MFS, GSP, etc. etc. Based on the things he says, how he acts, how he treats interviewers (prospective: MMANews), and how he treats his colleagues, one can SAFELY surmise he's a royal dick. That's not bias, it's just writing on the wall. And I like him as a fighter.

You completely missed my point!!! My point is that some people will jump all over Hughes for something, and give others a pass for the exact same thing... If you don't like a fighter thats cool, there are plenty I don't care for (Serra)... But you have to at least have the integrity to hold everyone to the same level....

If I wasn't impressed, thats what I would say. But Hughes didn't even say he wasn't impressed. Unless I missed it somewhere, which I'm sure I read the whole thing, he said he didnt find it exciting, not he wasn't impressed.

If this was a year or two ago I would agree, but we all know Hughes isn't in this to be champion anymore. The only fight he has left is with Serra. He's not going to be fighting Fitch or GSP. While I could see why you think him leaving is coming off as a dick, I don't personally see it. Though, honestly, I am a Hughes fan and get tired of hearing people talk shit about him, so maybe I am a little blinded.

I think they give him closesr seats just to get them to show up, I doubt These fighters would be there if they were seating up in the high seats. Again, unless I missed it, where did he say he wasn't impressed?

it should be clarified that Hughes didn't actually say he wasn't impressed, it was just the tag on the article. The biggest thing that bugs me is that he left in the middle of a fight. Unless you get an emergency page to go to the hospital you don't walk out on a performance no matter what it is(except baseball, you can leave a baseball game whenever you damn well please). Not only is it disrespectful for the performers but it's disrespectful to other fans who would have gladly taken your seat if you're not going to use it.
