Still...it's GSP. It's not like he lost to a still developing Brad Imes or something. 2004 GSP was still a pretty tough dude.
I don't get the bashing of Affliction over signing all this new talent. What are they supposed to do? Just keep the same 12 guys from the last show and reshuffle them until they've exhausted every possible matchup? That might work great for the HWs because there's a good 4-5 shows worth of headliners there, but they have to build their other weight classes up too. Obviously, they're in the hole, but it's a necessary evil in this business. Tito brings in the buyrates and is a short term solution. Guys like Nelson, Hieron, Horodecki, etc are guys they can keep around for the long haul and use to build or add depth to their other divisions. At least they're not going out and signing guys like Tank Abbott or Mark Kerr just to make matchups.
It's kinda like a pro football team. One year, they may make a big splash and sign a bunch of quality free agents (Barnett, Fedor, Sylvia, etc). The next, they sign one or two big ones (Ortiz) and a handful of lower-level guys who add good depth (Matyushenko, Nelson) and youth (Hieron, Horodecki). A problem only arrises if you don't see the dividends you expect from your big guys or you overpay for everyone. Those are two things that remain to be seen from Affliction's roster. So far, I think they're getting an OK return on their initial investment, save for Tim getting choked out in 36 seconds (then again, look who it was against

). I'm interested to see what their numbers are on guys like Hieron or Nelson who were champs in their former organization.
OK, that's my Thursday morning ramble...carry on.
