Ken Pavia plans on appealing the Anthony Johnson "TKO".
For those of you that don't know Ken Pavia is one of the top agents in the sports today. He has represented such greats as Ivan Salaverry.
IMO he is definatly doing the right thing, and I was pulling for Burns and am a Burns fan.
He just released this:
Quote:
I would be remiss if I didn't file a complaint and seek recourse for the outcome of the Anthony Johnson fight results this weekend. The UF has always been a valuable resource to me and as such I am reaching out looking for creativity to add to the appeal. All of you attorneys and armchair warriors, this is your chance to affect the process.
I don't want to share our current arguments that are based at law and in the Nevada code because I don't want to tip our hat or effect the commentary. That being said it seems the more people I speak to, the more different perspectives I get as to precedent, equity, due process, etc.
AJ deserves the best, and most creative appeal and should not be limited to the vast expanse of my mind or the input of my network. The reality is we seek to get a UFC decision overturned after the fact and to the best of my recollection that has only been done once before in the Radach Berger fight. I also believe we have the UFC's support in this effort.
I respect the process and am not trying to cry or complain here. I also believe Keith Kizer is the best Commissioner in the game. He has always been fair and is rational. While there may not be a code section that affords the opportunity to overturn a decision as he informed me, he has always considered all input and done his best to effectuate justice. I do believe however, to a man, everyone who has seen the fight believes that the outcome was unjust. I also believe Mr. Kizer will take everything into consideration and if afforded and opportunity at law or equity will correct this unfortunate situation. Let's figure out a way to untie his hands.
Meanwhile, Anthony Johnson has accepted what has happened and has shown nothing but class through the process. This was most evident in the first round when he inadvertently kick Kevin Burns in the groin and backed off and apologized. He didn't not call Kevin Burns out for the six or so eye gouges with and open hand or for pouncing after putting three of his finger print on the back of his eye socket. Rumble told me he thought his eye popped out.

Hope he can get it rules a NC......

I hope he gets it changed to NC. I also hope Dana does a right thing and gives AJ win bonus as well in that case.

Much props to AJ, he deserves this to be overturned and have a fight bonus from Dana.
He showed tremendous class after the fight, I would of reacted way differently, he could of ended AJ's career with those eye pokes. I know Burns' hand was broken before, but come on.
Hope everything works out for Rumble medically and with the decision.

Yeah he showed a lot of class and restraint when they announced that he lost by TKO. I was amazed by the call, but he congratulated Burns and showed him a lot of respect, when I'm sure he knew the call was BS.
Hopefully everything works out for Anthony.

Agreed. I was totally impressed with his demeanor. He acted like he lost fair and square when he knew it was a bogus call. For his sake I hope the wrong is righted and they could even do it again.

Fair is fair, if they can change the ruling to a NC that would be best...
No one wants to win or lose like that, but I'm very disappointed that the ref would allow a fighter to strike with an open hand... I do acknowledge that it happens occasionally, especially when going from strikes to checks but still he even said after the fight that he physically couldn't... and that's not right...
Either fight by the rules or not at all...
I hope you're reading this too CB...

i guess the ref didn't immediately notice that burns fingers went through the back of rumble's head....but it was a bullshit call and i was hoping he'd get at least a 5 minute wait periord similiar to smith and lawler. i'm def. pulling for an NC and more cash for rumble.

im guessing ur referring to the knee to a grounded Jesse in the fight with CB? its not like it was intentional, and by the looks of things, it didnt even affect Jesse in any way. he didnt even complain about it or anything. gimme a break.
as for AJ/Burns i hope it gets turned to a NC and they rematch. it was actually a pretty good fight up until the end. and im surprised that Burns wasn't DQ'd or anything. both classy guys and fun fighters to watch.

I liked how the maintained himself after getting the fight called "TKO."
Definitely should've been a NC.
