Okami Breaks Hand Again; Cote to get Next Title Shot

MMARated.com has learned that UFC middleweight fighter Yushin Okami has recently suffered a broken hand and thus a potential title fight pitting Okami and Anderson Silva, once thought to be slated for September or October, has now been put on hold.
We’ve also learned that if Silva leaves the Octagon tomorrow night without any major injuries there are plans to book Patrick Cote as his next opponent, possibly this Fall as well.

They make this a Main Event on a UFN. It would do much better than if it were the Main Event for a PPV.

I think this would make a great main event. you have one of the most durable opponents at 185 for silva to throw everything he has at. and to make it even better, their both stand up fighters. Even if the fight is one sided, its likely to be action packed and exciting.

Another major bummer. Lots of injuries and pulling out of fights lately, for multiple reasons.
Silva-Cote is about 1/3 as exciting to me as Silva-Okami would have been.
Regardless, Cote will mean one more successful defense for the Spider, and we'll see him battle Okami later.

wow... tough luck for Okami, he's really gotta be disappointed about this... he just can't get his rematch with Anderson, can he!? I don't think most casual fans will be any less drawn to watch a Cote/Silva fight than they would be to watch the Okami/Silva fight, though... eventually, the UFC is going to have to figure out some more evenly-matched competition for Anderson, (that, or start having him fight two cans, at once) because I can't see him being very happy about continuing this recent stagnation... I think after his fight with Irvin, Anderson has scratched the UFC's back enough to get the OK for his boxing match with Roy Jones, Jr., although I wouldn't be surprised if Dana still says no... at any rate, Patrick Cote better start training...and praying...now...

How would cote vs silva be 1/3 the fight that okami vs silva would? While I think both would lose, i think (his last fight aside) cote is a much more entertaining fighter, and while i think the result would be the same, i think cote would put on a better show. Is he a better overall fighter than okami? Probably not, but i personally think he will put on a better show. Just my opinion.

Cote overall is a more exciting fighter than Okami IMO, but styles make fights and Cote's style is tailor-made for Silva. He will stand right in front of him trying to KO him, and he will be victimized in a similar fashion to Chris Leben.
Okami at least would attempt to get the fight to the ground and GnP/outwrestle Silva. That fight would be a clash of styles (which Silva would win) rather than one fighter who has a marked preference for one "mode" of fighting and who will be severely outclassed in that "mode".
