Okami at least would attempt to get the fight to the ground and GnP/outwrestle Silva. That fight would be a clash of styles (which Silva would win) rather than one fighter who has a marked preference for one "mode" of fighting and who will be severely outclassed in that "mode".

You are 100% correct...Cote's whole game plan is to stand and fight, which you do NOT want to do against Anderson Silva. There's just no one out there right now at 185 who has a realistic chance to beat Silva in a stand up fight. The only real chance (and it's not a huge chance) is to take him down, control him, and GNP or sub him. He's no slouch on the ground, but it's definitely the better of the two options.
At least Okami would have tried to take Silva out of his element. He may not have been successful, but he would have tried. Cote is going to try and out strike him which will just not happen.
