Default MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings Updated - July 9th, 2008

Quote:
The latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, July 9. This system ranks the Top 10 MMA fighters from all across the world in each of the six most widely accepted weight classes.

Taken into consideration are a fighter's performance in addition to his win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

Fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for Top 10 consideration until they have fought one time after the completion of their suspension.

Rampage and Forrest should be a tie for #1 in the world. Then Machida. The rest is a toss up for me.

Machida should be number three on LHW in my opinion. But other than that the lists look pretty solid.

Shogun. ... for now at least. Rampage should still be number two. This is just my quirky opinion tho

It's funny how Jardine beat Chuck and he's #9. I don't even like Jardine, but that doesn't make sense to me. Well, I guess it's ok b/c jardine loses the rematch. i'm not sure about paulo filho either. I know he trains with Silva and is the middleweight champ, but i see him getting beat soon. Last time I saw him fight he was losing until he caught the guy in a submission. i'm not nearly as impressed with him as I am Silva. I think there is a big gap between one and two. Franklin would beat Filho. Machida should #3.

I kinda agree with that they're both very composed. Once my initial anger over him beating Tito wore off I started watching his older fights unbiasedly and saw he is quite the aggressor, he's very selective when he does it tho and its just agrivating to watch ( especially drunk ) because state side we are conditioned to like non-stop action when you hear the word FIGHT. .. and machida doesn't fight that way, he's patient to a fault, which I can't really be mad at. if I didn't "have" to get hit I wouldn't either. For instance when he fought Nakamura he waited literally until Nak charged forward and floored him with a straight punch, then was all over him. Same with Tito, end of round one. Tito is frustrated and left an opening, sweep, takedown, boom, Tito in crucifx and Machida all over him until the bell.
