Default How to Blow It: Corey Hill

Quote:
This animated gif is one of the most disastrous reversals I can remember seeing in MMA. At the beginning, TUF wunderkind Corey Hill has sidemount on Justin Buchholz and is working for a crucifix. Buchholz rolls and in less than two seconds has Hill's back and quickly secures a rear-naked choke.

For all of his physical gifts, Corey Hill is just not ready for the UFC at this point and why should he be? The guy's only had two professional fights in his career, the UFC is no place for beginners, no matter how talented and unlike Brock Lesnar, Hill is not world famous. There's plenty of time for Hill to drop down to WEC or an even smaller promotion and learn some lessons, get some seasoning and then he can come back to the shark tank.

I know he won his debut, but he's pretty much in there right now because he's somewhat of a freak show at LW. He needs to go to some smaller orgs, put on some muscle, polish his skillset and move up to WW.

If he moves up to WW, he'll never succeed in the UFC.

Did you watch the fight? He is amazingly rangy for 155 and already has pretty decent hands. He's a little green but so are a lot of the guys they're keeping around at LW. If Hill doesn't belong in the UFC then neither does Amir Sodollah, or half of the other newer TUF guys, or even Brock Lesnar

I think UFC's WW division has some great fighters in there, he may win a few... but he wouldn't last long, imo.

He can still be a force in LW, but he'd never beat Penn... and I don't really like Penn.

Once again. He has 3 pro fights, why are you even comparing him to any veterans of the weight classes?

why doesnt Hill belong in the UFC? the guy is new to the sport and still has a lot of potential. Justin used the cage to his advantage to initiate the scramble. that happens in fights, it doesnt mean Hill is not worthy of fighting in the UFC.

I'm not comparing him... i'm just saying, imo, that we has a better chance at LW.

If he moves up and dominates UFC's WW divison, well than colour me blue.

Why do so many people make comparisons of seasoned fighters against rookies. Hill is just in the beginning stages of his fighting. How can we say he will never beat certain fighters. Five years from now he might be the champ. He has to learn and grow as a fighter; we cannot analyze his potential yet.
