Usually when a title fight is close the champ keeps his belt. The judges and it seems like all but a few here agree that it wasn't that close.
Congrats to Forrest for a great win - fair and square.

I mean call me crazy but if Forrest threw more then Rampage and landed more then rampage wouldn't that make him the more active one.

Did I read it wrong or what? I thought for sure I read that Forrest landed
113 strikes to Jackson's 73.
Also as far as Forrest winning being questionable,I bet big on Rampage and I felt like I was losing from the 2nd round on. Not one time did I think I was winning the bet ................................at least not until the decision. I thought then that I might get a gift decision + then after the decision was announced I heard Rampage say,
"HE WHOOPED MY ASS !!!!!!!!" What else do the haters want to hear ????

Yea, they put more points into the high percentage shots which rampage was landing those sick body shots the entire fight.

okay, i watched the fight this morning.
this was clearly a DRAW. just so close. very much like Henderson vs Rampage.
i said it before, and i'll say it again, UFC needs to do extra rounds when it comes down to very close fights.
clear answers and better than controversial ones.

The second round inflated the stats for Griffin. Yea he landed 40 more strikes then Rampage, but in the second round it was 49-0. You take away the second round and it looks like a much different fight.
Bascially I agree with FightMetric, the fight was a draw. I have Rampage winning the 1st, 3rd, and 4th round and Griffin winning the second (10-8) and the 5th. Which would make my score 47-47.
|
you can't just throw out the second round. if you are going that route, then besides the knock down in the first round, Rampage did not really do anything and Forrest does win 4-1.

i really couldnt put it any better myself. this fight makes an immediate rematch in order! and why not? there is no clear cut #1 contender in the division anyways. great fight up until the judges score cards were read off. a championship shouldn't change hands on a fight that close IMO. rematch.

I think it's even more absurd that the nuthugging mooks who were all over Rampage's jock, calling for a first round KO with statements like "Rampage is better in every aspect of the fight" etc...can't admit that Quinton got outworked last night. Yes, he landed heavier shots, but they weren't as debilitating as the accumulation of damage he took from Forrest. Casual fans can disregard leg kicks as being less important than the power shots Rampage landed, but they're overlooking the fact that they crippled Jackson from the second round on.
Even if you disregard the softer shots from the mount in the second round [which is a stupid idea...it was a fight, they happened and everything counts] Forrest still landed more shots than Rampage through the fight.

Henderson and Rampage didn't have a 10-8 round. This fight was a good fight, but it really wasn't that close. If Henderson/Jackson didn't warrent an immediate rematch, this one certainly dosn't.
Forrest won it, fair and squarely. If Jackson can admit it, his fans should be able to as well.
