Honestly, I would not be surprised if Cote gets a title shot after Okami and Silva fight @ UFC 89 (hasn't been announced yet because of Silva's fight on July 19th). The UFC knows it needs to keep different people going for titles, I mean how many times do people really want to see Franklin or Hendo fight for a title? Either way Okami or Silva will lay a beating on Cote IMO. Cote is a good fight, but he is not at the lever of either Okami or Silva. Hell he is not at the level of Franklin, Hendo, Letites, Marquant, or even Lister. But he is on a winning streak and fans like him so thats what matters.

Dana said if Anderson walks out of July 19th uninjured he will be fighting Okami on September 6th which would make that 88

I thought the decision was fair. I will have to watch the fight a 2nd time but I don't know why people are saying that Almeida definitely won the 3rd, I gave a slight edge to Cote in the 3rd. I was surprised that Almeida gassed so easily. After the 1st round I thought this guy might be a challenge for Silva, but he died off pretty quick.

I gave Almeida the 3rd just because nothing happened in the fight besides his one takedown... I want to rewatch the fight again, but I was suprised Cote got the deicision.

Fight was close and depending who you were rooting for you will say that Cote or Almeida won.
What is clear is that either man will be eaten alive by top competition at 185 not to mention that A. Silva would seriously hurt them. And this was definitely not performance worth a title shot.

I gave Almeida the 3rd too... I had a feeling it would go to split decision but I expected Almeida to have his hand raised at the end. The strikes actually were pretty even in that round but judges probably gave the advantage to cote because he was moving forward. The takedown pretty much was pretty much the most significant move that happened in the 3rd, which is why I gave it to Almeida.
By the way... the worst matchup for Cote is Anderson...a guy who's better than you at everything. I was cheering for Almeida as I felt that he is the only guy who could submit Anderson. However, in this fight, he looked like he was too afraid to get hit and versus Anderson, you have to eat a couple to get the td.
