I wish the say what degree black belt like Fitch is a Black Belt but probably a 1st degree and if he trained under the Gracie's he probably be a blue belt, compared to Rorion Gracie which is a 9th degree black belt.

The thing is bjj in practice is much different then mma. Fitch has a good ground game, and his instructor thinks he is good enough to get a black belt.

Maybe his instructor is nuts idk much about the guy so i can't say.

I am sure Fitch has better bjj then some other bb an i am sure that a bunch are way better then him.

It does seem like they are beginning to just give away black belts? Two years ago having a black belt meant a little something, of course there were variances in instructors perceptions of what a bb really is. I know ATT is a really prestiguos camp and probably above doing what I'm going to imply, but does anyone else find it just a little odd that he gets this a month before the biggest fight of his career?

From the sound of it, it's some jack leg shit anyway I'm sure it's guerilla bjj is good(hell I want to take it now more than BJJ). I'm just skeptical of people who make their own martial art and give out Black Belts

Great, so if GSP wins, we get to hear all the "GSP outwrestled this person or that person" nuthuggers talk about how he should have a blackbelt because he "outbjj'd" someone. I'm looking forward to it.

That's because most people who make p4p lists are idiots and don't understand what p4p means...neither of Fitch nor GSP belong on a top 5 p4p list...they're both huge WW's who are generally much bigger than their opponents. When you factor in GSP's loss to Serra [regardless of whether he avenged it or not] he's just not great p4p.

Not busting on either of you, but if I haven't trained with his instructor/camp, I wouldn't make judgements of whether the belt was "given" away or not, or whether someone earning it doesn't "mean anything." Belts awarded in a given discipline may or may not translate well to MMA, but that doesn't mean they were given out like candy or aren't a worthy accomplishment.
