Didn't someone do recently a breakdown of all fights in different orgs ( TKOs, KOs, subs, decisions, etc. ). I think he also has stats about round when fight ended. I'm to tired and cannot find it but maybe some of the mods can.

I really wish more fights could be 5 round fights, besides title fights. It really shows a lot , IMO, to be able to fight for that length of time.

That's one thing I actually love about the UFC rules compared to the pride rules... the 5 rounds. It forces guys to train on a diferent level and the idea of the championship rounds gives it just that extra excitement. Look at some of the great 5 round wars.. Rampage/Hendo, Couture/Rizzo, Couture/Ricco, Franklin/Louiseau, BJ/Uno, BJ/Pulver, Hughes/Sherk. They were all great battles... I know there were some bad ones like AA/Tim 3 but still!
I just want to see more 5th round finishes. I really thought that Thomson was going to get it against Melendez. I guess thats just wishful thinking on my part.

I did that, I don't know if my analysis is the one that you are talking about or not.
They are here and here.
From time to time I think of updating those to bring them current, just to see what falls out. Also there's another org or two I could include in there now.
I did not do an analysis of in which round the fight ended, however. I deliberately didn't do it because I didn't like the "unevenness" among different orgs (in PRIDE for example, R1 =10 mts which is like 2 UFC rds; PRIDE Bushido only had 2 rds while most of PRIDE had 3 rds, although some PRIDE only had 2, etc etc). So either you're misremembering (if you're thinking of my work) or you're thinking of someone else's work.
* edit - I have to insert a humorous sidenote here. On a recent (past month) episode of Inside MMA, Bas was talking about ring vs. cage and one of the statements he made in support of an argument was that "guys ask me why PRIDE has more submissions than the UFC" ... my analysis demonstrates that isn't true At least it wasn't true as of when I did it. It's possible that in the past 14 months or so that relationship has reversed, as the two were quite close.

i think it'll be a few years before the 25 minute regular fights.
first of all, for his first fight in the UFC for instance, Jamie Varner wasn't a full time fighter. he had to work on the side and everything. he could, but it would be much harder to go for 25 minutes.
when fighters get more money so that they can spend all their time doing an outrageous amount of training to get ready for fights that long.
but i really dont see why, as i am typing this. its MMA, not boxing. fights end quick sometimes, one punch in boxing adds to your score normally, but one punch in MMA could become KO of the night with those little ass gloves.
plus a 25 minute MMA fight is way different then the championship boxing matches. even though those go 36 minutes, 12 three minute rounds, its just boxing. no takedowns, no grappling, no kicking.
