Agreed

and isn't this supposable about GSP being angry with UFC and Affliction.

Seriously if GSP left over that, he is worse then Randy imo.

and another thing if UFC had any idea or hint that GSP was planning on leaving i don't think they would have built the entire Canada card around him and i don't think they would give him another main event at 87.

UFC doesn't blow an kiss ass of fighters that will be leaving.

GSP has become one of Zuffa's Golden Children and once your in your in for life lol.

WCW being sold had more to do with Ted Turner's desire to get away from pro wrestling and focusing on his acquisition of AOL than about losing money. AOL/Time Warner were merging and he simply didn't want to be in the wrestling business anymore. He received numerous offers to sell and he did, to the highest bidder.

Just on a side note, that acquisition almost ruined Time Warner if I remember correctly.

Side note Tim Silvia did state that Affliction while sponsoring him in the UFC were paying him Half of his earnings for each of his fights. So if you take into account that people ala GSP Sherk etc etc that were sponsored by Affliction just lost half of their paycheck it is not unreasonable to think they may want to jump ship.

Very true and less restrictions in a contract is a big plus. Some fighters would rather not be tied to one organization and would like the freedom to fight anyone across the board.

you make sense but you have to look at it long term for the fighter. How does he or anyone know if Affliction will be around long enough? And to jump ship this early would be stupid on GSP's part. Affliction MMA might fold in 6 months and there will be a new organization well be talking about, maybe Triumph United will head line Fedor vs AA in there main event. Right now the only big dogs in the park are UFC and Elite XC. GSP will get his affliction paycheck but his fight salary wont be as big in elite as it would in the UFC. I am sure that the fighters are pist that they can't wear Affliction but there are other sponsors out there.

This might be the first and last card Affliction does. No one knows how the public will react to it and for it to be successful.

Right now GSP has it made in the UFC. He is very marketable and he will headline 2 PPV's this year which is awesome to do at his age!! When its all said and done with GSP might...MIGHT(IMO) be the greatest WW of all time. Not now he isn't but this young and for what he has accomplished I say he is on a great track to do something special for the UFC.

Also another good point but you have to figure that the paychecks are signed by the promoters. I can see as a promoter that if they let a "floater" fight in there organization that they would never let that competitor compete for a title if he will leave the following weekend to fight where ever he wants, potentially carrying your organizations Championship Belt. If that was the case with the UFC we would have seen Fedor vs Couture this past February.

In Sylvia's case your argument makes more sense since he isn't a champion and doesn't get a portion of the PPV revenue.

In GSPs case though, this argument doesn't hold much water. I am saying this under the assumption that GSP can actually defend his title at least once or twice. The UFC has a few canadian fighters, but no-one anywhere near the level of popularity and skill of GSP. If GSP really is unhappy with his contract, he is doing the right thing by not talking about it. Trust me, when he has one or two fights left on his contract, he will get extended with a fat raise (so long as he doesn't lose to anyone anytime soon). The UFC will more than make up for GSPs lost earnings from his Affliction sponsorship.

Every fighter should take a page out of GSPs book here with regards to not talking about your own contract. It's really unprofessional to air your dirty laundry in front of the media. Not to mention it doesn't get you anywhere closer to a raise/extension.
