The way the matchmaking this year for UFC has gone, whether shogun is on a higher level or not wouldnt matter. Joe Silva has been on fire this year with his matches and I expect he will get this one inked. Since Chuck is signed to fight Rashad already I see no reason why they wouldn't put Shogun and Soku in the cage. If they ask shogun and he refuses, he has to know everyone will dog him and say he is ducking Soku. So I can imagine all this is going to take is one phone call. If shogun comes out 100% I don't see soku winning that fight. Then again, shogun is getting older and beat up, and soku is just getting stronger and more powerful. bah either way, great match, can't wait till it goes down.

soko already ktfo'd lil' nog and arona... what do you mean he needs to prove himself? nakamura is no joke either and is a solid lhw. he's finished 3 top level opponents, got ko'd by another good up and coming fighter who trains with chuck and lost to the true #1 contender at lhw right now.

shogun and soko would be a great fight. i think most pride/ufc fans would like to see it.

shogun is tops like 27 or 28. he doesn't have that many fights and he hasn't ever really been beaten up badly (aside from the arm dislocating due to an awkward fall). he has a long career ahead of him if he can stay healthy and un-injured and i think he will quickly come back into the title picture soon after he's healed.

I was referring to the major knee surgery he has to come back from. Martin Kampmann said it best when he said fighters don't really get rusty from surgery they get scared. Getting over that fear of the same injury is the hardest part. But if shogun comes back 100% and in good mental condition he will give soku something to cry about.

Let's not forget all those disrespectful comments. Sure he's a great fighter who could easily escalate himself to top 5, challenge for the title and one day may be champion but at this point to disrespect elite fighters (who have always shown pure class) is something that will always get to me. He can make it sound like he has always respect shogun but the truth is he has talked shit about shogun in more than one occassion... i'm surprised some of you guys forgot those.

Very true, I was about to start forgiving Soko for being an idiot previously but you've reminded me why I shouldn't. I hope Soko does get Shogun eventually though, cause I will enjoy watching Shogun put Soko on his highlight reel. Soko isn't on Shoguns level. I am not even sure he is top 10. Maybe he just barely sneaks into top 10 but that can be debated.
