In an attempt to dispel the rumors that he may be a punk for avoiding Lyoto Machida, Brandon Vera claims he had good reasons for turning that fight down (he needs time to train with awkward kung fu enthusiasts) and insists that Wanderlei Silva and Dan Henderson both turned down fights against him. So now who’s the punk? Answer: everyone but Machida.
It’s all here in this MMA Rated video, where Vera goes on to say that he moved down to light heavyweight to take the fight against Reese Andy as “a favor”.
Seems like a lot of UFC fighters are doing favors in order to get this July 19 Anti-Affliction card off the ground. And you know what they say, fighters are like the mob when it comes to favors. One day — and that day may never come — they’ll call upon you and ask for a favor in return. That is what they say, right? If not, they should.
Damn they offered him Dan and Wand, I don't think he deserves a caliber of that magnitude right now even though those fights would of been awesome and Machida yeah he betta go watch some Bruce Lee movies and make sure you watch the tito fight so you don't look that stupid.
I can't believe so many big names turned down fights. I know it's short notice but it's surprising that so many guys turned down fights.
As far as Henderson goes, if that's true, then something's funny about that. I saw an interview with Hendo on INSIDE MMA a few weeks back. He said he's been in the gym since his loss to Silva and he couldn't wait to be back in the cage and was just waiting on the UFC to give him an opponent. If they then offered him one and he turned it down, then that's bull****, especially when Hendo has been saying that he prefers fighting at 205.

wow, way to publicly call people out like that Brandon... seems like kind of a bitch move to me to be honest. like he's just trying to redirect attention away from himself.
I wonder what Wand and Hendo might have to say about this.
maybe we'll see Vera fight one of them in the future

You're crazy dude, do you know how big and strong Vera will be fighting at 205lbs? Not to mention how much faster and stronger he will be than most guys at LHW. He is going to be a fucking beast and I'll take him in any fight against those guys and Wanderlei Silva is my favorite fighter of all time.
