Rumor: CBS Trying to Influence EXC Match Making/Booking
MMAPayout.com: The Business of MMA: CBS Seeking To Influence Match-Making

CBS Seeking To Influence Match-Making
With their increasing financial stake in EliteXC, CBS are exerting their power in the board room, but word is that the Tiffany Network is also trying to influence match-making and booking decisions. Sources indicate to MMAPayout.com that there was significant internal pressure by the network to have Gina Carano appear on the July 26th card with just over a month's notice. The second CBS card was thought to be lacking in star power, with CBS seeking to bolster the card with Carano's presence.

Now it's blatantly obvious why the UFC wouldnt sign a deal with HBO or one of the cable networks. I think CBS will end up taking away the "prize fighting" aspect of EliteXC and turn it into more of a show rather than a legit mixed martial arts competiton.

Why am I not surprised by this? People think Dana's an ass for not getting a network deal. He new the suit and tie guys would start telling him how to run his business.
Gary Shaw, nows the time to prove to the MMA world you have a pair.

It is too late for Gary I think, shares have been bought by CBS and they are throwing him out.

Carrano was barely in shape the last time she fought, throwing her in there again is going to be no different. MMA on network television may not be a good thing after all.

This is pretty interesting. First they are supposedly trying to force Shaw out and now trying to influence booking. It will definitely shake things up in the company and in turn MMA if this all turns out to be true.

They're going to own that business soon. They get more and more shares in the company when they broadcast EXC, so they're the ones in charge.

Man, I was thinking the EXACT same thing as I was reading that. I scroll down to write it and there was the thought already.

Them and Showtime. Especially with the new Showtime loan (see my other thread) where in addition to a half million dollar fee, Showtime got 100,000 shares for the fun price of 1 cent each.
