Rumor: CBS Trying to Influence EXC Match Making/Booking

While I think it is a good thing that CBS cares enough to want to put big name fighters on the card and not just save them for PPVs, it shows what a horrible deal EliteXC signed just to get on TV. CBS obviously wants these shows to do well to not only get exposure, and more advertisers, but also to try and get a return on their investment. If EliteXC wanted to put a show on full of cans to save some of their stars for a upcoming PPV, no one would want to tune in to see it. I don't think Shaw would do that, but then again who knows.

Like someone else said imagine if HBO tried to pull this on Dana, wouldn't fly IMO and i could just hear the F bombs now.

CBS doing it though really doesnt surprise me much, their a multi demographic channel and are most deffinatly looking for a return on their investment. Thing is they cant step out of the commisions guidlines(unless they went to a indian resort) so is the AC gives a "Big" fighter like Gina,Kimbo or Lawer a medical suspension, what are they gonna do then? Its not like they have the roster the UFC has to keep puttin on quality shows every month or two

They should start by hiring good fighters, not the washed up UFC has-beens they have signed now! This will turn into "pro wrastlin" before all is said and done.

I've seen this mentioned a couple times. I think it's a bit of a left field shot to think CBS would be trying to force their way into an established company like the UFC. I am sure SOME of this happened, but not nearly as much as you see now. Exc is and was weak. CBS could look at this as simply an assimilation, which after reading the deal it's clear that BOTH companies new this was going to happen. I think EXC just figured they'd appear to be some geniuses and they'd be in for the long haul. Greed in other words. But I don't think this holds any merit to the UFC negotiations. No way would dana have not bragged about how he told them no to this if that was the cas.e

Network t.v. can be a great thing. As long as you don't lose controll of the product that is produced. That is why the UFC does not have a deal yet. They will never give up controll of their shows or their company and until the network companies stop insisting they have controll, the UFC will never sign a deal with them.

hats off to Dana for putting up with all the criticism and whatnot for not being the first to get a network TV deal. He obviously knew what was ahead if he gave up an ounce of control.

I didnt like the WWE style show on CBS, and dont care to see another.

if half of these rumours are true...yikes
