Brandon Vera dropping to 205lbs to fight Reese Andy July 19th
Didn't see where this was noted.

Brandon “The Truth” Vera (8-2), fighting out of San Diego, CA, will be moving down in weight from heavyweight to light heavyweight (205 lbs) to fight Reese Andy, who is making his UFC debut. A victory over former UFC champ Frank Mir at UFC 65 in November of 2006 placed Vera in the upper echelon of the heavyweight division. However, a decision loss against Tim Sylvia and a controversial defeat to Fabricio Werdum this past June at UFC 85 have triggered the 30 year-old to drop in weight class to fight at 205 lbs, where he will take on the University of Wyoming’s three-time All American wrestler and former IFL fighter Reese Andy (7-1). The Seattle native is on a four-fight winning streak and looks continue his winning ways against the veteran Vera.

As a big Brandon Vera fan I can't wait to see him at 205lbs. He may have been a small HW but he'll be a HUGE LHW. This is not going to be a good fight for Reese Andy. WAR BRANDON!!!!

This was announced last week. Vera was offered a fight with Machida but he turned it down so instead they gave him some dude no one ever heard of. Vera should get an easy win in his 205 debut. I still would rather see him fight Machida.

So instead of working on the HW divison, they move a fighter up from a weaker MW divison and move a fighter down from a close to dead HW divison. Good idea.

Moving Vera down,is a good choice,I'm sure he was pressured to do it since he lost to Tim,and now with Werdum, it was only a matter of time. I like Vera, I think he can do very well in LHW, but its dangerous waters in their, no one is safe.

Brando Vera “run away” from Lyoto :: TATAME
This is the article that reported Vera turning down the fight with Machida.

I don't think its a good choice, he was doing great at HW, his only loss coming to Tim who is a good fighter, and Werdum which I think Vera could have turned around. The point is that the HW roster is weak, why send one of its biggest prospects to LHW which is already stacked?
