I would love to see him fight Machida but that is probably too big fight for first fight at 205 - just remember showing that Swick had when he moved down to 170.

Hopefully very soon we will see Vera vs. Machida fight

Because another loss at HW would effectively ruin him. That would have been 3 losses in a row.. He is simply too small to compete at HW.

He can always move up. It is no big crushing blow to the HW division. He needed to move down to further his career.

I don't think Brandon "ran away" from Machida. On short notice that's a REALLY dumb fight. I don't think Brandon would have an answer for Machida's weirdness as is but on short notice I think he would have been made to look weak and that wouldn't be good, granted all three losses would be to good fighters but still its three in a row, you gotta keep a guy like Brandon around. Vera has some market value so them letting him get a highlight reel in his first LHW fight is a good move in my opinion. Brandon was small for a HW to begin with and I think it was only a matter of time before he started running into guys that just physically can overwhelm him ( Kongo, Gonzaga, Herring etc)

Vera at 205 is going to be very very good. Im glad he has a tune up fight. I feel sorry for the guy he's fighting though....cuz Vera is gonna punish him.

So if he was offered the Machida fight than the UFC has other plans for the winner of Forrest/Rampage....

maybe chuck?

I agree here. I understand it's a short-notice fight but I can't take it seriously. It's a can and can't be construed as anything else. And what if he loses. It'll be disastrous for him.

I think the reason vera isnt getting shit is because he's dropping a weight class. He has to cut weight for the first time in awhile and needs that tune up...

I'm not one to believe in tune up fights although I understand why they do them. I'd much rather see Vera fight a lower-middle tier guy like Bonnar or Boetsch for a tuneup fight than a can from the IFL. Meanwhile Palhares gets Hendo on his next fight. It just seems a bit off to me. Oh well, if Vera wins, he can then fight Machida.
