UFC scrambling to put together July 19th Spike TV card
Wow, things are getting really interesting now... July is packed to the gills just like June

UFC Event In Works for July 19
by Sherdog.com Staff
July 19 could become a crowded night for mixed martial arts.
The UFC is currently planning an event that Saturday night to be televised live on Spike TV, Sherdog.com has learned from multiple industry sources.
The proposed event would take place the same evening that popular clothing line entrepreneurs Affliction will make their foray into the pay-per-view market with "Banned," its first MMA event at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Zuffa's impromptu event, which is being pulled together on five weeks' notice, is tentatively scheduled to be held in Las Vegas.
Studied strikers Wanderlei Silva and Brandon Vera have been approached to clash in a light heavyweight main event, though other combinations of one or both of these fighters are also being considered.

See this is exactly what I've been saying for years. Put some good competition to the UFC here and you're going to see a LOT more events. Other orgs are forced to step things up.
Good news all the way around

Yea, this is good news for the fans IMO.
I honestly think this could take away quite a bit of buys from Affliction.

I don't really think the UFC is trying to compete with Affliction's card, Vera vs Wandy would be cool...... but look at Afflictions card. If this is the Affliction bringing out the best of the UFC then I am dissapointed. IMO the UFC is trying to come in and steal potential viewers, just like they did with Elite XC on CBS. The UFC is "scrambling" to make a card for this date not becuase they are worried, becuase they want to retard Affliction's growing proccess. If this card flops then Affliction is not in a good place

Most casual viewers of MMA would rather watch a free UFC card then pay for a PPV for a company they never heard of before outside of the fact that they make t-shirts.

Damnit!!! Screwed by a wedding again!!!...
I'm definitely ordering the Affliction card (though I won't be home to watch it) so having a free card on spike would at least allow me to try and injure myself somehow to get back to the hotel to watch that...
Either way this is great news, doesn't make a bit of difference to me who puts on what, the more quality mma...
the better...
