UFC game update

The highly anticipated UFC video game that has a current working title of “UFC 2009” finally has a general release date. The gaming giant THQ has set an initial launch date of Spring 2009 for at least the XBox 360 and Playstation 3 game consoles.

“UFC 2009” was originally announced back in July 2007, but there hadn’t been very many details since then. It was also mentioned that sometime during the UFC 84 Pay-Per-View broadcast that there would be some sort of announcement regarding the game, and we think that this was that announcement.

Here’s what Gamespot had to say about the upcoming UFC game:

That isn’t the only fight [WWE Legends of WrestleMania] for which THQ is spoiling, the publisher also addressed today the Ultimate Fighting Championship game, which has kept an exceptionally low profile since the 2007 E3 Media and Business Summit. That project will now see release in spring of 2009, and like Legends of Wrestlemania, its release will be tied to one of the UFC’s major events.

i was hoping it would come out in late 08...but at least its less than a year away...

Man I really have been waiting for this game to come out!!

My guess is the fighters. Since July of 07 the UFC has lost a handful of GOOD fighters that was probably very paramount to the game. Maybe even cover models to the title. Sylvia, AA, CroCrop, Randy and Tito Ortiz all come to mind that would have been very marketable fighters to help promote the game.

The only thing I hope they do well is the Create a fighter. W/ Presets of fighters that maybe they pulled out of the game. Not seeing any of the fighters I listed will not be cool but at least creating them can make up for it.

you think we'll see WEC stars? Faber, pulver, Condit and Filho? I say why not? WEC is owned by UFC and can be used as a stepping stone in a story mode or something.

lets hope they dont fuck this up like they did some other wrestling and boxing games.

They started talking about this game wayy to early. I got excited about this like a year ago and know im pissed that its gona be almost another year until its released. They should have put out the trailor to it right now. Im still pretty pumped for it tho, i wonder who all is gona be on the game.

I cannot wait for this. One of the main reasons I bought a xbox360 cause I knew it was coming out. Im waiting to get more details on it, anything really.

No doubt. It sucks how when it comes out, it will more than likely not have some of the favs like Tito, Randy, CC or AA. I just hope its not like trying to defuse a f*cking bomb to do a move.

what do you guys think the controls will be like?? cuz imo that is gonna be the hardest part when it comes down to it.. to get controls so it kind of feels like an actual fight not just button mashing...

something like the main 4 buttons are your strikes and you have to hold down like L1 or R1 to get leg strikes and the other 1 can be clinch or something then you have TD.. and pass guard and go for dif subs etc...

I REALLY want this game to go well... but until i kind of know about the controls and see that they work im not getting TOO excited although that trailer made me cream my pants the first time i saw it...

lol!!!!yeah i sold three x-boxes within that time span and i wont buy another one til i know this game is coming out 4 sure!!!!
