Alves was injured 10 days out, still fought Matt Hughes. 9 or so fighters already pulled from the card because of injury, 10 days left before the ppv the main event fighter gets hurt.

Maybe he already contacted Dana because maybe he didn't want to fight but instead something was worked out.

i mean because Alves was 4lbs over but i don't remember him attempting to even try losing it after the failed weigh in. Makes me think everyone knew before hand.

Yeah, I was pissed Hughes lost and it made it worse that I don't like Alves. It's been a frustrating couple of weeks of MMA for me. I get WAY into the sports I like so it's rough when things don't go as you expect. Try being a Raiders fan like I am for the past 5 years.

As far as Alves not making weight, everyone gave Gina Carrano crap about it, Alves doesn't get a pass for it.

That's becuase Gina had missed weight before, and it was pretty obvious that Ratner, Dana, Lorenzo etc all knew before the weigh in that Thiago was going to miss weight. Hughes probably did too


You shouldn't let personal preference of fighters/orgs cloud your opinions, this forum is getting famous for that. Hughes looked cooked in today's fight, and he should reach the 50 fight plateu and retire IMO

yea, they said Thiago didnt make weight because he sprained his ankle. I heard that was the excuse. But like we all know, excuses are like assholes, everyone has one.

They didn't ask him to try cutting, or give him another chance or anything.

IMO that just makes me believe they already knew.

Gina gets crap for it cuz like neonatural said she missed weight consistently and it also seems her heart isnt in the sport. Thiago has always made weight and is a f*cking monster!!!

had he made the weight, i believe he'd have still had the same size advantage over Hughes.

i dont agree Thiago should have gotten KO of the Night bonus, Wiman should have also recieved that IMO.

....in Dana`s audio interview posted he did infact know before time Alves would not make weight and would give up 10% of his purse. He called Hughes and told him he did not have to take the fight,and then agreed to the catch weight. Alves is a fucking wrecking ball and would have dusted Hughes either way.

I wonder after GSP takes care of Fitch if he they give Alves a title shot,or have GSP vs. BJ. Dana did say the Penn fight is a possiblity for the New Years card in the Audio interview posted earlier.
