I can't wait for this card. Gonna be amazing. BUT, I think Affliction is sinking too much money into their first event. I think it's gonna be difficult for them to stay afloat after this.

That card is gonna be so fucking dope. Cannot wait to see so many heavy names in one event.

ummm... who's 5 UFC heavyweight champs? (including belfort that is, although he was a tournament champ but anyways)

There's Sylvia, Arlovski, Belfort, Barnett, who's the 5th if I am missing someone.

Would have agreed with this, until the Donald's cash started backing the promotion.

Default Ahhh whatever.

After hearing this, I don't think it's much of a big deal. The reason being that if you know about Trump's history you would know that for all his business acculades, he's also had to file for bankrupsy around 10 or 11 times.

He knows how to make money for sure, but he also knows how to lose it too. Also last year there were talks going around that he would again have to file bankrupsy, and that was why he was marketing steaks and vodka, and also why a lot of his projects for buildings, golf courses and other companies were canceled.

So, just a little food for thought.

hahaha Did you know that the UFC was actually thinking about selling the UFC to PRIDE??? back in 2003?, how ironic eh? By 2003 they already sunk 40+ million and were on the verge of throwing in the towel... Dana and the Fertitas just got lucky imo. First and foremost it was the inception of "Spike" tv. It used to be TNN, but they reinvented themselves trying to market themselves as the "guy" channel, so obviously something like MMA definately fit their programming like a leather glove. That was Lucky strike number 1. Lucky strike number 2 was the TUF show actually being exciting/interesting. Lucky strike 3 was the TUF season 1 finale, Stephan bonnar/forrest griffin and franklin/shamrock. From there on out it was smooth sailing.

All in all, to touch up on the subject, I'm happy MMA has exploded. I'm happy Trump has a hand in this org. This really just benefits the fighters and the fans. rock on.

It's possible but I am thinking that both Rampage and GSP were prolly understanding that Affliction had to be pulled becasue they were masterminding an MMA promotion while monopolizing the MMA clothing industry in the UFC (basically stabbing the crap out of the back of the UFC).

I think the only thing that could pull Rampage and GSP (as well as Penn, Wanderlei, Chuck, Nog and some others) from the UFC is money. Non exclussive contracts become of little importance IMO once you're making 6 figures+ per fight (since the main purpose of non exclussive contracts is to be able to fight 5-6 times per year as opposed to the standard 3 fights per year with an exclussive contract).

And Dana probably hasn't really mistreated those guys aside from the bogus comments he makes about fighters when they aren't bound by a ZUFFA contract.

But I do think that when there is another promotion that is successful Dana will be walking on egg shells at times to make sure he doesn't piss those guys off because if a group of them (say GSP, Rampage, Wand, Shogun, Nog and Penn) felt they were mistreated and decided they were going to do the 'ol "let's walk out together" routine and leave ZUFFA scrambling, that it would be severely detrimental.

But I think in order for those guys to leave the UFC they are going to need to be offered big contracts and maybe as importantly, job security. With the UFC you know they're not going under and can continue to pay you whereas with any other promotion you don't know if their next event will end up being thier last event.

Just my opinion though.

If Tito signs with Affliction, he can just do a partnership deal with them for his clothing line, which simply means that where ever Team Punishment is sold, so will Affliction be sold and vice versa. Or he can just have a clause that he's allowed to promote his clothing line and his gym written into his contract. And if they advertise that he's signed, or Tito even shows up to announce his signing, that's going to boost their rating significately.

BTW...a freind of mine and his wife wear a lot of Team Punishment gear and it's actually not bad stuff. The price isn't too bad either, but I'm just too cheap to buy any..lol.

Donald Trump is no fool when it comes to business and/or marketing, so if he's involved, I'd say it's a very positive thing. And Trump definitely has the $$ and connections to assist them with getting Affliction going strong.

Hey...maybe now we'll finally get to see The Donald and Rosie O'Donnell bang it out and roll in the cage...lol
