I hope everybody enjoys all the best fighters being in one org while it lasts, cause that shit is about to change. Trump has $3 billion, so he's more than capable of swooping up a chunk of the UFC's top talent and dumping a ton in marketing. It's a little early to make any predicitions but I've never seen Donald Trump do anything half-ass, he could become a major competitor with the UFC. And even though he's a hell of a business man and could do a lot of good things for mma, I still love being able to see all the top talent in one spot facing off against each other.
I will reserve judgment on how HUGE this is, to me it would depend on Trumps real motivation. just $$, does he believe MMA is what we all know it is (awsome and ready to explode), or does he have some weird man crush on tito and was talked into it..lol
I could see Tito buying part of the promotion with Jenna and with the roster that Affliction already has + Tito + Jenna(lol) + Donald FUCKING Trump = HUGE FUCKING SUCCESS.
Don't forget that affliction's own event is going to be obviously sponsoring their own gear. I like this company a lot now lol. Now just get tito and a tv deal.

Why do ppl get so worked up over new promotions. I mean seriously. It's suppose to be about the fighters. If Affliction can put on top notch cards then great if not then fuck'em. Mother fuckers love to get all brand loyal. lol I mean fuck.

I am not saying they won't do good, because i actually want them to do good.

No one is going to overthrow the UFC anytime soon.
This company has a lot of potential and the way they're doing it is with a different plan the others. Their first event is looking bigger than anything anyone has ever done. They're dumping a lot of money right from the get go. Their plan is obviously to rise to popularity very quickly... it's either that or they will fold very quickly.

This is actually pretty big news because of who Trump is and all of his connections. Shaw, Ayre and Cuban don't have the same network connections. If Trump is going to get heavily involved in this there maybe great success for Affliction.
Affliction gear apparently made around 7+ million in 2006 so I would imagine they made around $40+ million in 07 since they weren't even very well known in 06 and were only founded in August of 05. The 07 numbers are pure speculation but using common sense given there was no major marketing in 06 and they made $7 mill so with all of the exposure they received in 07 you would assume they at least increased revenue by 500%.
Department stores are even carrying Affliction now (Dillards, maybe some others) so it's a household name and I would expect the same sickening numbers in 08 eventhough they can't advertise on the UFC any longer because they gained a huge following in 07 with all their UFC fighter sponsorships.
And all they're going to do now is just promote the crap out of their clothing line like they did with the UFC (all fighters and corners will be wearing Affliction).
It looks like they have the money to make it work but most importantly the connection, as long as Trump is in this to succeed since Trump is a legendary marketer.
I hope to see more of these types of cards in the future so I'm behind Affliction 100%.
Someone said something about saying "bye bye" to a stacked UFC roster if Afflcition is successful, well that could be true but think about it, the UFC HAS that roster now but waters down the cards in order to increase the number of events per year so it doesn't matter if they've got the roster if they're not using it.
With Afflcition, in thier debut cards it's going to surpass anything that the UFC has put on and with Dana's ego clouding his vision I really don't think we would have ever seen Fedor in the UFC fighting world class opponents, so this way we get to and we also get a ton of incredible matchups we have not seen yet.
With the UFC or any promotion that's been around a long time and has had the same elite roster the rematches begin to get a little stale (still great great fights so no complaints) and with rematches usually in that second fight we get the impression that the style vs style macthup has come into play and they've figured eachother out and know who's got the edge so it's not as intriguing so I'm glad that we will see fresh macthups and damn good ones at that.
And really I wouldn't worry about the UFC losing many names, they have their marque fighters and those guys aren't going anywhere. Adnerson, Rampage, GSP, Penn, Chuck, Wanderlei, Nog, Machida, their up and coming talent and a deep enough roster to keep their champions challenged.
If anything, it would be a huge plus for the fighters because free agents and 2 wealthy companies means bidding wars.
