I thought the fight was fine, for what it was. Having seen both fighters before, I didn't expect a very technical fight, but they weren't as sloppy as say, Chris Leben.
As far as them being gassed, I didn't think it was that bad for the third round. They were tired, but clearly each of them had some in the tank still.
I expected the stoppage after Smith told the doc he couldn't see. Given the conservative nature of the night, it wasn't surprising.
I think a lot of people aren't factoring in that this is the first time MMA was shown on network television, and had to walk a thin line. If the doctor allowed the fight to continue after one fighter admits he can't see, the potential backlash to label the entire industry as barbaric and savage would be justifiable by mainstream reporters.
They'll get to fight again, and it will be just as exciting.
I think the good thing is that this fight sets a stage for them to appear as a main event, which they should have in the first place. But this fight serves to introduce them to casual fans and gives them a bit more hype.

The UFC used to be about the best fighting the best. I understand that the goal of a business is to make money, but their heavyweight situation makes them a pathetic joke.
