"Big Country" Roy Nelson Could Face Kimbo Next
Five Ounces of Pain | 5 Oz. Exclusive: Roy Nelson could be next in line for Kimbo Slice
I almost jumped out of my chair at work when I read this article. For those, myself included, complaining about the lack of competition for Kimbo, this could be a very big test for Kimbo. For those who don't know, Roy Nelson is the HW champ of the IFL, is 13-2, who's a big guy (chubby) but has cardio like Tito and isn't afraid to slug it out with the likes of Kimbo. I'd be in line to see this fight.

I think this line is key in the article:
Quote:
|
According to Larkin, formal talks about a Nelson vs. Slice fight have yet to take place
|
This is just Larkin trying desperately to keep the IFL afloat. EXC has no real reason to accept the fight

That wouldn't be a test for Kimbo, it would be a loss. Shaw won't let that fight happen, they are going to protect Kimbo as lomg as Kimbo lets them.

I don't know man. Big Country can take a shot, but if he takes a good shot from Kimbo he is going to sleep.
A stand-and-brawler is not the right person stylistically to beat Kimbo. A good ground specialist (GnPer, wrestler, BJJ guy) is the right person.
I agree for sure that Nelson would be a big step up for Kimbo over the tomato cans he has been fighting; but if Nelson chooses to stand with him I think he (Nelson) is going to be in trouble.

I would actually root for Kimbo in this contest. I get nausea looking at Roy Nelson. Imagine how much better he'd be if he lost some weight. Talking shit on how he'd "show" Dan Henderson how to really ground and pound. Ass. If it happens I hope Kimbo leaves an imprint of his fist on Nelson's face.

I just watched the Imes/Nelson fight, and I wouldn't say Nelson has the cardio of Tito, and I'm not sure that fight should have been stopped when it did.
With that being said, a Nelson/Kimbo fight still won't be the best fight for new MMA viewers, but it can certainly be a "American Gladiator" hyped promotion.
