Neer is no easy win. He was a good fighter at 170 even though he was always the smaller guy. At 155 I think he is going to make a name for himself. This should be a great fight to watch. Neer has a good shot at winning this fight and making some noise in the LW division.

Nate Diaz vs. Josh Neer in the works for UFN 14
Quote:
Josh Neer (24-6-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) and "The Ultimate Fighter 5" winner Nate Diaz (9-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) will likely meet at UFC Fight Night 14 in September.
A source close to one of the fighters told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) about the lightweight fight and said bout agreements are expected to be signed shortly. The fight has been rumored for the better part of a month.
UFC Fight Night 14, which airs on Spike TV, takes place Sept. 17 and serves as a lead-in for the eighth season of "The Ultimate Fighter."
Neer, who most recently scored a unanimous-decision victory over veteran Din Thomas at UFC Fight Night 13, had left the organization for nearly two years before the victory. After consecutive losses to Josh Burkman and Nick Diaz, Neer fought outside the UFC and went 6-1 with five stoppages in organizations including the IFL and Greensparks Full Contact Fighting.
We first reported his involvement with the event earlier this month, but an opponent was still being finalized.
Diaz, who won the sixth season of "TUF" after fellow finalist Manny Gamburyan suffered a shoulder injury during the live finale, has now posted four victories in the UFC. The four consecutive submissions wins have come over Gamburyan, Junior Assuncao, Alvin Robinson and Kurt Pellegrino.
Diaz had been campaigning for a fight with the highly touted Tyson Griffin, but instead, he will apparently get veteran Neer.
Back in August 2006, Neer dropped a third-round submission to Nate's brother, Nick Diaz.

Interesting. I like both of these guys. I think Neer has Diaz beat on the feet, and in wrestling, so as long as he can avoid inexplicably jumping from half guard or sidemount into Diaz' guard he should take it.

i would love to see this fight. nate was complaining after his last fight that he wants some better competition, well he got it. i think neer's experience will get the better of diaz. neer by unanimous decision. neer is one of the very few fighters i enjoy watching go to a decision, because hes always going all out and u never kno wat hes gonna pull off. Diazs grappling is superior, but josh has decent defense, i think he'll break out of a few submissions and pound diaz the whole fight. but i still dont see neer ending it, diaz is a good fighter.

so there is some bad blood there, which is why Nate wants to fight him.
and for the record, Neer is no slouch but he doesn't beat Nate ever. waste of a fight and hopefully Nate gets Tyson after this one. Nate by Sub Rd 1

Half of Neer's wins have been by submission, yet half of his losses have come by submission as well. I see this fight ending in one of two ways. Either Neer by decision, or Diaz by submission.... I have a feeling Neer will push the ground game too hard and get sub'd by Diaz
