Machida's never been one to really speak out on anything unless he's been asked a question first, so I can buy this. In addition, I think it speaks volumes that Tito couldn't finish or outpoint an ill Machida.

Machida vs. Forrest/Rampage: make it happen.

Im not trying to flame you, Im just expressing my opinion because I disagree completely. Im just telling you how I feel about it

You cant say I didnt have good points.

I just dont get how you dislike him even more now that he truthfully answered a question and said that he was sick

If anything, you should respect him even more because he was able to whoop Tito even though he was ill

I'll disagree with you there. i don't think he can beat alot of the top guys. i give him props he is undefeated and did beat Tito, but he isn't going to get past Wandi,Rampage,Forrest,Chuck,or SHogun

Machida has fought that way every fight he's had. this sounds like an excuse for a win, lame.

flame me all you want guys, but thats my opinion.
i have 2 say i agree with this, this sounds like he is saying he would have smashed tito if he was 100%, which is disrespectful and prob would not have happened, also he did not look very sick 2 me, he looked the same as he does in all his fights

Oh well, he got the win.
He probably felt a need to say something because every non mma idiot that whines about him not fighting like a fool toe to toe with someone that is known for GnP, and cries because Lyoto is so much faster than everyone and no one can grab him or hit him and everyone says that he is running from all the fighters, but then turns out to be the victor in EVERY fight and still gets boo'd.......Sorry, sorry....I am just sick and tired of reading all this crap about him. Not directed at the poster of this quote, I just used it.

I like Machida's style and execution. If someone else doesn't there isn't much that can be said in the way of convincing. If people are cranky because they are Tito fans and need somewhere to direct their disappointment over Tito's poor performance, then I think the criticism of Machida is misplaced. It's like they are saying, "yeah, Machida won the fight, but he isn't a good fighter", or "he won, but he still lacks something that would actually make him legitimate".

I think, even if you are Tito's biggest fan, that the finger needs to be pointed towards him and toward no one else. He fought exactly the way he has fought for years and he hasn't been an exciting or dominant fighter in that same amount of time. I think what people are really disappointed about has less to do with Machida and much more to do with how the fight clearly illustrated how utterly one dimensional Tito Ortis is as a fighter and how the fight game has evolved far beyond his limited ability. Unfortunately, his loss makes his big fat mouth all the more embarrassing for him now. If Machida accomplished this while he was sick, more props to him.

I was really wondering why he pressed the action much less against Tito then his other fights. If you look at his fights with Nakamura and Sokoujou he had way more offense.

It's definitely perfect for Machida to fight in UFC 84, "Ill Will."
