Default UFC 85: Bedlam Fight Picks

1 of 4 UFC events that spans 6 weeks is down, just 3 more to go. So with less than 2 weeks to go before the next event, it's time for fight picks. Personally I am looking forward to this event and I think it's one of the more cursed and underrated fight cards in quite some time. While most people think it should be free, it is a pay per view that you have to pay for. But it could be worse, it could be UFC 72 or 78 again.

My picks:

1. Matt Hughes vs Thiago Alves (Hughes)

2. Michael Bisping vs Jason Day (hope Day pulls out the upset but Bisping takes this one easy.

3. Marcus Davis vs Mike Swick (this is my pick for fight of the night and Davis takes it)

4. Nate Marquardt vs Thales Leites (Leites)

5. Fabricio Werdum vs Brandon Vera (Vera)

6. Jorge Rivera vs Martin Kampmann (Kampmann)

7. Matt Wiman vs Thiago Tavares (Tavares)

8. Roan Carneiro vs Ryo Chonan (Chonan)

9. Luiz Cane vs Jason Lambert (Cane)

10. Paul Taylor vs Jess Liaudin (Taylor)

11. Antoni Hardonk vs Neil Wain (don't know much about Wain but he's fighting Hardonk so I pick Wain by default.

12. Rashad Evans vs Thin Air (Rashad Evans by forfeit due to injury to Thin Air)

This card has 3 round decisions written all over it.

Hughes by decision only because i don't think hes done, but if he finishes Serra, if i am Serra i'd drop or ask to be cut because Hughes is gonna beat him up bad.

Bisping - i am pretty sure Day is a WW fighting as MW, i could be wrong however a win against Belcher doesn't convince me at all.

Davis- by knock out likely

Marquardt- by long decision

Werdum - 1st round TKO, Vera than drops to 205

Kampmann - needs to be sharp, his next fight will be a very tough fight.

Tavares - guy needs to start finishing people tho

Chonan - fight i really don't care about

I really have never seen Cane, but Lambert is no joke so i think i'll take Lambert.

Taylor - in a loser leaves the ufc fight.

After this card, you likely see 3 or 4 fighters be cut from the ufc.

I dont think people are givin Alves much of a chance in this fight but I think Hughes is gonna have a tough night ahead of him. If he can get into range and get the takedown he will prolly grind out a UD but Imo hes gonna be a little weary to shoot in like he was against GSP the 3rd time around all its gonna take is one good knee comin in and hes gonna be telegraphing his shots and get lit up. I think Vera is gonna take be able to use his wrestling keep it on the feet and prolly outpoint Werdum. If it goes to the ground Veras no slouch there either but if Werdums on top and controls him he will prolly pull this one out. Bispings prolly gonna dewstroy Day but who knows he hasnt fought his best at home so we will have to wait and see. Nate should be able to beat Leites but I wouldnt be shocked to see Thales pull off the upset and sub him.Swick Davis is gonna be a war I could see either of them pulling it out. I am really excited to see if Kampmann comes back strong he is always very exciting to watch. The rest of the fights are basically toss ups to me all and all this card ended up bein pretty good despite all the injurys surronding it

Only fights I really care about:

Alves/Hughes: Thiago IMO take this, no disrespect to Hughes intended. He needs to watch Hughes' takedowns and then start to blast the former champ with knees. If Hughes wins, he'll just grind out the UD.

Vera/Werdum: I don't see how Vera loses this one, honestly. Werdum's striking just isn't quite there yet, and Vera's wrestling is good enough to keep the fight on the feet. Vera by UD.

Marquardt/Leites: Marquardt by UD as well.

Hughes/Alves-Unless Alves has in TDD in top form hes in for a long night, Hughes by UD

Werdum/Vera- I think werdum is gonna be too big for Vera,he'll push him up against the cage, take him down and work his GnP for a TKO

Swick/Davis-Has fireworks written all over, hopefully swick has a better cut this time around or hes gonna hate his life standing with Davis, Davis by Decision.

Marquardt/Leites-Should be an excellent fight,IMO Leites isnt no slouch, but i see Marquardt being too much for him, Marquardt by Sub rd3

Bisping should beat up his can and look good in front of his home country doing it

I would also like to see a healthy Kapmann win, i havn't forgot about this guy and i look forward to some MW matchups with him.

You dont care about the Swick Davis fight at all? Imo it will be a great fight... probably fight of the night. Those 4 fights make this a card worth watching. Im not going to buy it but I will watch it for sure.

Hughes by decision
Vera by decision or late tko
Marquardt by tko
Swick - Davis is too close to call imo
