But... the problem with fighters making boxing salaries seems to be that then you'd have to have only ONE headlining bout in which the two combatants make 10 mil. or so, and then several bouts with "lesser" fights that the fighters don't make nearly as much. This could alienate some fighters and/or cause delays. In that case, no big name would want to take an under-card bout. Which means a lot of waiting on the sidelines until you get main event, co-main event, or second featured bout. The great thing about it now is that we get a card (usually) full of fighters (if not fights) we want to see. I question whether that could happen if ALL the well known fighters made even 1 to 2 mil. plus per fight in an event.
No arguments with this point of view. Its good to see some break down the business side of MMA. Even though it has been around for a while, set backs keep it in its infancy. 100 years ago boxers were making squat and now look at the sport.

I side with Tito on this one... The Fertitas, Dana make way to much and pay the fighters peanuts in comparison. Do I think this will remain the trend in the future? No. The UFC has only really been making huge profits for the last 3 years or so. Give it time.

I'll probably get alot of shit for this but..... i thought Tito should have lost that fight to Evans. He started gassing in the 2nd and i think thats when rashad gave him his huge black eye, and then he was constantly grabbing the fence (not just twice) to keep evans from taking his sorry ass down. Tito got his ass kicked the whole 3rd round so whatever.

With that being said.... I still think Tito takes this fight w/ machida.

I'm sure Tito will say or do something to express his feelings toward Dana, but he's not going to lay down in the cage or anything like that. like him or not,Tito is a professional and Imo he'll act like it... during the actual fight at least.
Dude, that didn't even occur to me. lol I bet that's EXACTLY what he does (e.g. "Dana treats fighters like garbage" or whatever). Not that I agree with his sentiment per se, but I can't wait to see if he does wear something to provoke Dana.

Oh yea, that is true and Bisping destroyed Hamill and had him out on his feet like fifty-leven times.

The more Tito talks, the more I agree with Dana about him being a moron. It is truly quite ironic. Tito complains about executives making too much money, but then turns around and tries to brag that he is such an outstanding businessman. If that is true and you are worried about your shelf life, then start a company or try to get a job working behind the scenes for the UFC. Sad thing is, it is his mouth and his defiance that put him on the map and sells fights now, because it damn sure isn't his fighting style. That same thing would prevent him from being offered a Randy-like position with the company.

Tito stands there and spouts numbers and poor math while claiming to be such a businessman. He is either
A. The idiot that Dana claims he is.
B. Someone very self serving that is just playing dumb to make himself look better.

So he admits he got $710k for that crap with Rashad? He made too much.

And his only refute for him making $5.6 million in a year with the UFC is "that sounds a little high"?

He tries to make it sound like every fight he is in is pure PPV gold.
They aren't.

He tries to make it sound like MMA is the same business model as boxing.
It's not.

He leaves out the fact that MMA gets the numbers it gets because of bigger cards than boxing, more stars than boxing, and the stars are made and promoted by the organization.

Truth is, I don't feel sorry for Tito having to pay taxes. Tough Shit. I pay them too. Deal with it. I don't feel sorry for him having to "pay for 9 weeks of training". You made over $5 million dollars in a year working for the UFC. STFU, build a bridge and get over it.

Ridiculous comparison. Tito REPEATEDLY used the cage to gain leverage and position in that fight. I know because I was screaming at the f'n T.V. The point should have been deducted a lot earlier.

What is your explanation for why , once Tito stops grabbing the cage, he starts getting his ass kicked?

I guess I need to go back and watch the fight again but I do remember Rashad getting warned for grabbing the cage too and he never lost a point for it.

I am under the impression that Dana is a better businessman than Tito. I guess that is up for debate.
