Should The UFC Cut Ties With Tito Ortiz
Quote:
So, things are really heating up between UFC President Dana White and LHW Tito Ortiz. Their war of words is garnering more attention than the other particpant Lyoto Machida. Machida has been soft spoken since this whole conflict transpired. With all of the bickering going on, should the UFC cut ties with Tito Ortiz? Win or lose, should Dana White and the Fertitas just sever ties after the Machida fight, or should they make an effort to resign him. Below are the past 5 fights of arguably the best guys at LHW in the UFC, and how their records stack up against Tito Ortiz.
Rampage Jackson 5-0
Dan Henderson Decision Win
Chuck Liddell TKO Win

In my opinion, it's best at this point and time for both parties to go their seperate ways. There has been some bad business and immaturity played out in both parties.
However, as far as his talent goes, alot of people say that Tito's talent has diminished. People, including Dana White, critcize him because his only fights that he finished were against Ken Shamrcok. However, if I remember correctly, it was Dana White who brought Shamrock back and pushed that Ultimate Fighter grudge match and was quick to push a rematch and promote the hell out of it.
So should they walk away from each other, or should this dysfunctional marriage keep on going?

It's time for a divorce, both parties would be much happier if they didn't have to work together anymore. They've pretty much gone beyond the point of being able to patch things up.

who cares if dana hates tito or visa versa? tito is a great fighter and i dont give a damn what anyone says. he was once thought to be the unbeatable lhw champion. he pretty much beat rashad imo. how many times do other refs give fighters nothing BUT warnings for holding the cage and tito gets a point deducted? he won that damn fight. even if he loses to machida, it'll be a war because tito's never been stopped and machida has never been beat so i see it going all three rounds and perhaps being close. needless ot say, win or lose, ufc should keep all the great talent they can with them losing timmy, possibly aa, cro cop no longer w/ them, randy couture, etc. especially if tito wins, he'll have to be considered a top ten and ufc wants/needs all the top ten fighters they can get or atleast one would assume. why would dana white willingly let a top ten fighter leave his company to fight for the opposition ei EXC?

Guy Mezger beat him via sub at UFC 13.
Frank Shamrock beat him via TKO at UFC 22.
Chuck Liddell beat him via KO at UFC 47.
Chuck Liddell beat him via TKO at UFC 66.
Actually the only time that Tito has lost a decision was against Randy at UFC 44. So going by history if Tito does lose that's only a 20% chance he'll lose by decision. I know you're used to Tito going to decisions, but that's his wins. It's Tito that's not a finisher(not counting the Ken Shamrock fights), not his opponents.

Someone didn't watch his Chuck fights, or know of his Frank Shamrock fight..or his Mezger fight...
oh well
For a business, and being able to sell PPV's, I wouldn't want to lose Tito.
However, I can see them parting ways...which sucks...because even though I don't like Tito, I always watch the PPVs he is on xD

My general opinion is that of the "Fuck Tito" variety, but quite frankly, neither party needs the other anymore.

Dana and Tito have already made it clear to the public that they want any business with each other. I think its too late to turn back now. Plus Tito's physical explosiveness isn't what it used to be in my opinion. The only value Tito has is his mouth and his popularity.
