To be honest i really dont like either of them. BJ talks waaayyyy to much shit and Sherk is a cheater that got caught and still wont admit it....they both suck. Still though its gonna be a good fight. I think sherk wins 4th rd tko.

I think it'd be alright to make a thread...it's only about a week till the event.
As for the interview,IMO Sherk isn't very confident. I don't think he's half as comfortable on his back as he's saying, and I think BJ is in his head big time. This is gonna be one of the most personal, hate filled fights ever, and I can't wait.
BJ via 2nd round RNC.

Penn RNC end of the 2nd with 15 seconds left.[/quote]
You can only pray to god, because if he doesnt beat him by the end of the second round, BJ will be done. He is the king of getting tired and reaching for Ben & Jerry's instead of water in between 1st and 2nd round.

The ww division isn't cleaned out by any means, there are still some great fights for GSP but I also don't think any of the guys you mentioned really stands a good chance against him except maybe Fitch. If he beats Fitch there is Alves and a maybe a couple other guys but nobody else really stands out imo.

Well, again, people might be taking Penn's comments out of context...if he's asked how he feels about the Sherk steroid scandal, he's going to be honest...much the same way GSP [as well as other fighters ] was honest in multiple comments that his fans excused as "just answering questions." Certainly, BJ made pointed and abrasive comments, but it's not like he called a press conference to make them...he's asked for an interview, and he answered questions in the interview. Those quotes are then rearranged for maximum impact by the interviewer.
I would love to hear someone laugh off shit talking and just say they don't want to get involved in it. But that's not the way the hype machine works.
We'll have to agree to disagree about nobody else having a chance against GSP.

Lol, rh is having to become the master of agree to disagree.
Yeah, fighters are going to shit talk. It's pretty much a fact. Almost all fighters are Alpha males and competitive freaks, so it is bound to happen. They edit interviews to generate hype when they are video taped, why would print be any different?
I think Anderson Silva is the only one I could maybe see laughing off shit talk. Like Leban saying he will send him back to Japan, or Hendo saying he will beat him up like he has never been beat up. I just remember his translator saying "we'll see"
I agree with everything you said except GSP needing to fight Karo again. Karo was beaten pretty convincingly and when you hear him talk, it doesn't sound like he really wants that rematch. I went back and rewatched it, and man was GSP green in that match, but he still controlled it pretty well (except for a few sub attempts) start to finish.
True GSP is more MW size, but as long as he can keep making weight at WW, that will be one of his greatest assets there.
Sherk and BJ have been going back and forth. I just can't wait for the 24th. Actually, the 23rd (to see what kind of shape Sherk comes in at, and if BJ will taunt him if he comes in "deflated")

I think if Koscheck actually trained some wrestling in his preparation for a rematch with GSP, he would win the fight. Thats just my honest opinion. I dont think GSP would out wrestle a wrestler of Koscheck's caliber as long as Koscheck actually practices his wrestling. He trained pretty much all stand up for his fight with GSP because he expected a stand up war.
I'm not taking anything away from GSP because he controlled koscheck the entire fight, but if Koscheck actually came into the fight prepared to wrestle, I dont see gsp beating him.
back on topic--I'm not sure whether or not I should feel sorry for Sherk. The poor bastard swears up and down he didnt take nandralone (sp?), yet he still failed the test. Maybe the CSAC doesnt have their shit together and accidentally contaminated Sherk's urine sample with the banned substance? i mean anything can happen, but that doesnt matter. Fact is, sherk failed the test according to the CSAC, and that's something he can never erase.
That failed drug test is going to stick with him for the rest of his career, and i guarantee you that when he and BJ enter the cage, the fans boo the ever living shit out of him. I like Sean Sherk. I always have, and I admit that I turned against him for a while after the steroid thing, but I always wonder if maybe he's telling the truth.
I want BJ to win the fight just because I'm a bigger fan of BJ's than I am of Sherk's, but I won't be surprised or upset if Sherk pulls off the victory. I know this is a little out there, but what if Sherk came in and knock bj the fuck out? Wouldnt that be some CRAZY shit?

Sherk's comments about GSP make me think he wants nothing to do with GSP ever again...that was a BEAT DOWN with Sherk moaning like a bitch when GSP was pounding his face into the mat! Sherk knows a lot of guys at 170 could do that to him...he doesnt wanna go back.
yeah i agree with you guys when you say he doesn't sound as confident as he's trying to make us believe.

I wonder if the UFC executives get both guys in a room before filming the promos and they in unison come up with catchy stuff to say about one another.

I haven't really kept up with what they have been saying about each other since UFC 80 happened because listening to Sherk talk is like watching paint dry to me, but I did find it ironic when Penn (who I support in what he said), called out Sherk for the steroid stuff and just trashed him. Then during his UFC 80 victory interview, he said "Sean Sherk, your're dead." Then when Sherk got in the ring, he was all respectful, shook his hand, and said it's going to be a good fight. Then went back to the trash talk later. It's just wierd.
And I know it's good sportsmanship to make up after the fight is over despite all the trash talk but that all seems so fake to me. The most gratifying ending to a personal battle was when Clementi choked out Guillard and afterwards, they still hated each other. If you hate each other, don't fake it for buildup. Just hate each other, fight and go right on hating each other.
