Exclamation "Affliction Banned" To Make Mma History As Fedor Returns To Ring

Quote:
Affliction, the premier fashion label for men who love hard rock and fast living, will make history presenting its own Mixed-Martial-Arts pay-per-view event in association with M-1 and Roy Englebrecht Events, appropriately named "Affliction Banned," featuring the much-anticipated return of Russian heavyweight superstar Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko, supported by an All-World caliber undercard, July 19th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

"Affliction Banned" will be distributed on Pay-Per-View and air live (9 PM/ET, 6 PM/PT) on cable and satellite viewing in the USA and Canada via iN Demand, TVN, Shaw Communications, Viewer's Choice Canada, DirecTV, DISH Network, Bell ExpressVue and Star Choice for a suggested retail price of $39.95. The telecast will be available in both standard and high definition television.

Fedor (27-1), the former undisputed PRIDE® heavyweight champion and Russian M-1 legend, has been universally recognized the past five years as the most dominating heavyweight in the world. He will face former 2-time UFC® heavyweight title-holder Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia (24-4), fighting out of Iowa by way of his native Maine.

The exciting four-fight undercard is loaded with Josh "The Baby Faced Assassin" Barnett (21-5), of Seattle, facing-off stateside for the first time in two years in a grudge match against the only opponent to ever knock him out, Brazilian strongman Pedro "The Rock" Rizzo (16-7).

Three-time All-America wrestler Mike Whitehead (20-5), of Salt Lake City, will battle Brazilian sensation Renato "Babalu" Sobral (29-7), of Costa Mesa, California. 2000 Olympic wrestling silver medalist Matt "The Law" Lindland (20-5), of Oregon City, faces Brazilian favorite Fabio "Negao" Nascimento (8-3). Former IFL® titlist "Big" Ben Rothwell (29-5), of Kenosha, Wisconsin, is scheduled to fight an opponent to be determined in this groundbreaking event.

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale May 20th at the Honda Center box office and through Ticketmaster.

I wonder how much they're shelling out for each fight...The price tag for some of those names might make this the most expensive MMA PPV for an organization, no? I'd like to see some statistics.

And it's already been NOT confirmed that Arlovski's fighting Rothwell, so. *But if he is, it'll be another big ass paycheck Affliction will be signing.

its been confirmed by not so credible sources they have arlovski, but rothwells management even says its not confirmed.

I expect this will be more expensive than any event in the history of MMA, but It should be badass. If they put up all this cash and it sucks the donkeys nuts they are in some serious trouble.

It's still a rumor...everyone's quoting that suspect source. I wouldn't put too much stock in it at this point.

I think the problem here is AA management more than it is AA himself. Because he seems to be very happy with the UFC, then every article that says he is leaving is always "well I talked to AA's management bla bla bla". Same thing happened with Fedor. I hate saying this, but I think Tito deserves more money than AA... and this coming from a guy who hates Tito and likes AA.

I hate to disagree with you on Arlovski but I do but I have a reason why. Before the Jake O'brien fight, Arlovski made an appearance on HDNET's Inside MMA show. Every time they brought up his situation with the UFC, he had this look on his face that looked like he wanted to say some brutal stuff but knew he couldn't. All the guys were snickering and laughing like something was just said off camera but now it was back to all business and the usual politically correct non-sense. But Arlovski made the point that he had been ready to fight for quite some time but was given no opponent and then he was finally given Jake O'brien.

I could be reading into it but I think he was unhappy with how he was being treated. He went from being champ to losing twice in a row and that made him fall out of favor. After a couple of sluggish wins, the UFC buried him on the undercard. And it's bad enough to put him on the prelims, but to not even air his fight when there was plenty of time left and he stopped his opponent in the first. Liddell lost twice in a row too and they didn't bury him on the undercard.

This should be a great event - how could it not be given the quality of the talent? Can they sustain the level of this type of event? That's questionable.
