Actually it is a great time to release the movie. Because this movie, as long as it doesn't suck, will bring in new fans to the UFC just to see Matt fight. it is a very good story and should inspire alot of people.

I say good for Matt Hamill. I didn't like him during Season 2.732983 of TUF but after the Bisping fight I found myself rooting for him.

I just don't see what difference it makes whether or not the actor who plays him is deaf in real life, Al Pacino is not really the devil and played him in The Devil's Advocate. And if that spoils the movie for anyone I don't care its 10 years old, you should seen it by now.

The main difference is that the Devil is not a protected group of people.

That said, the only way I can see it being an issue is if the deaf community thinks that the actor is mocking the way deaf people talk or something. Liken it to a straight man trying to play a flamboyantly gay man. I could see how the gay community could find that offensive.

If the Irish community can get over what Brad Pitt did to the Irish accent in Devil's Own, and I can look past Matt Damon's bad Boston accent in the Departed, I am sure we can forgive a bad deaf impersonation/ inflection from an actor.
