Jardine: I want to prove to everybody what I’m all about.
Quote:
“The Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine has already dished out a beating to Chuck Liddell, and now he is gunning for legend number two Wanderlei Silva at “UFC 84: ILL WILL.”
Jardine stunned the MMA world when he convincingly beat Liddell by split points decision back in September, knocking the former champ down in the process.
Liddell has since said he wasn’t feeling sharp that night, and so Jardine must now prove himself again against another UFC icon Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva.
The kickboxing expert feels he has never received the respect he is due for a career that has seen him beat Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Wilson Gouveia, but he intends to change that in Las Vegas.
“I want to prove to everybody what I’m all about. I’ve had a couple of fights and people have questioned how good I am,” said Jardine.
“Now I want to make my place in MMA history by beating not one but two of the icons of the sport.
“I’m expecting to fight “The Axe Murderer”. The guy we haven’t seen in a while. The aggressive one who fights across the ring throwing his haymakers.”
Should Jardine beat Silva he would surely deserve his crack of the whip at the UFC light-heavyweight title, having already beaten Liddell – the man who lost the belt to current king Rampage Jackson.
Liddell has since marked his own return to form in one of THE fights of UFC history – beating Silva, but Jardine reads nothing into the fact that his last victory came against the guy who delivered Silva’s last loss.
“Chuck beating Wanderlei doesn’t give me any extra confidence for this fight. The styles match up weird in this sport.
“We haven’t seen how my style matches up against Wanderlei.
“What I can’t wait for is being in the middle of the second or third round, being sweaty, bloody, tired, just me and him – seeing who the bigger man is on the day.
“All the press interviews, all the pre-fight, it’s all garbage. I’m just here to get to the middle of the second round and you’re surviving on guts and instinct. That’s what we live for as fighters.”

I hope Wandy comes out at full speed and finishes it in the 1st round. I don't want to see 3 rounds of leg kicks from Jardine.

I totally agree. I hope that Wandy puts Jardine in his place. Then I hope he has to fight Chuck again and Chuck beats the crap out of him. I have never liked Jardine and probably never will. If he beats Wandy I think he does deserve a title shot, but I still won't like him. There is just something about him that makes me think he is overrated no matter who he has beat.

I fear if Wanderlei doesn't utilize his knees in this fight he will end up with another loss.

That argument just doesn't make sense. You will think he is overrated no matter who he has beat. He beat possibly the greatest LHW of all time and yet you think he is overrated? How is that possible unless you think him dominating chuck for 3 rounds was a fluke? I mean if he would have flash knocked him out in the first round I could see fluke but not a shear domination for 3 rounds.

If he wins (I do hope Wandy knocks him the f.ck out) he will have beaten the top 2 LHW's arguably of all time, albeit past their prime (still great fighters). At that point he should get the respect he is looking for. I mean seriously who is on that list of beating both Wandy & Chuck ? No One, he would be the list.

While it would be quite impressive to have wins over Chuck liddell and Wanderlei on his resume, I dont think that would help Jardine find a fucking personality. the guy is as exciting as watching paint dry IMO. He's a good fighter but sounds like a guy who hasn't taken his prozac in about a month.
I say add a stipulation to this fight. If Wand wins, which he will, and if he wins by KO or TKO he gets to bring an electric razor into the octagon and shave that stupid ass beard off jardine's face, WWE STYLE!!!!!

I love Wanderlei but I'm a fan of Jardine. I think Keith has a tough style to beat. As long as he doesn't have a brain fart and get caught off guard like he did against Houston Alexander I think he can accomplish a lot in this sport. I think he'll beat Chuck again if they fought and only the old berserker Wanderlei can beat Jardine. I'm hoping for a Wanderlei victory but Keith isn't a pushover by any means.
