evans griffen to fight for no. 1 contender spot
FUTURE OF UFC'S LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION...according this from mmaweekly.com forrest and rashad will most likely face each other to find out who will fight the winner of ortiz liddell 2...i hope this goes down...just to end all the debate..the evans vs griffen and evans vs bisping debate has gotten out of control..its alomost as bad as chuck vs wand..the lines have been drawn..and everyone has picked their side...alot of people on this site think rashad beats both these guys hands down..so lets take it to the polls..

I dont like that, I rather Evans fight Griffin and then fight Ortiz or Griffin fight Evans and then fight Ortiz again, I think you gotta beat a top guy to prove you can fight for the title, two up and comers fighting eachother doesnt prove anything.

i agree..but apparently thats how it might go..and thats seems to be how the ufc does it..like i think swick should have to fight the loser of franklin vs silva before he gets a shot..but they probably will just give it to him..and im not saying he doesnt deserve it..i just as a fan would like to see him fight leben again..and then fight the loser of the upcoming title fight..and then fight for the belt..thats just me..so i guess i feel the same way afro..let him really work out all the kinks before you throw them to the wolves..i think griffen vs rashad will be good..i think its a fight that should happen..but i dont think either of them are ready for chuck..it alomost seem s like dana has his champs..and he is just setting up people for them to beat on sometimes..

well Swick didnt beat a TUF fighter, he beat a legit contender even if hes in a slump =/ but ya only way to find out if he can beat the champ is to beat the guy fightin the champ now thats how it should go for these TUF fighters
if Rashad can beat Tito, he can hang with Chuck but beatin Forrest doesnt prove crap and excuse me for sounded biased towards Rashad I just dont see Forrest winnin this fight at all

I see Forrest KO'ing Evans, but regardless of the outcome, either one of these 2 guys fighting Chuck is like throwing raw meat to a lion....

I hope the part of #1 contender is false because that's BS throwing Rashad in a title fight before he's actually had time to develop into a real contender. I too don't see Forrest beating Rashad, he has nothing to offer him. No way he ko's him, he doesn't have the power in his punches, and he'll also be fighting off his back quite often, so he'd better have a gameplan for a submission but i don't see that either. Rashad's too strong for this guy just like he was for Bonnar. While Forrest gave Tito a run for his money, i didn't see that as a 100% Tito as Tito doesn't ever gas that quick and we seen what happened when he was fresh in round 1. Tito will beat both of them RIGHT NOW and Chuck would KO both of them. But given time i think Rashad could give him a run for his money and have a good shot at holding him down for some gnp like Randy did but not now, he's not ready. They'd just hurt his marketbility by throwing him there too soon. But i do hope this fight happens so Rashad can further elevate his status by beating a guy some think is a great fighter.

I will agree that putting these two guys in front of Chuck in the next year to 18 months would be too soon for ether one of them.
I don't think Forrest could KO Evans, his stand up is not as proficent as Evans and his ground game is not up to Rashad's either.
It would be one entertaining fight but one that shouldn't happen yet. How do we know if these two guys are #2 & #3 contenders (behind Tito) for the belt? If the UFC would put out its own Top 10 or Top 5 contenders for each belt, we could have a better indication at what they are thinking when it comes to making matches (as oppose to speculating what the matches mean).
Though i think both guys are top 10 contenders, I would not consider them ready or worthy of a championship (or even an elimination fight for the championship) fight at this stage in their careers.

Would you put Bisping in the same category as Forrest and Evans??

ya I agree, its like spoon-feeding Chuck if Rashad is thrown to him right away even Rashad says hes not ready.. you gotta put him up against more determining factors, Forrest is not one of those guys.. shame is that the UFC doesnt have a lot of guys that can test the up-and-comers.. but wait till Rashad reaches his potential before you put him up against Chuck.

Tell me about it... this is absurd. Neither of these guys are fit to polish Bisping's boots - if the winner will be #1 contender it should really be #1 contender to face the Count.
git.
