It's a 2 edges sword. I agree and disagree all at the same time. It's the same in all pro sports. If the athlete asks for more money, he's a bad guy, oh his ego is out of control, he doesn't deserve it. But the owner of the team is free to cut ties with the player at any time and in most cases pay him nothing. I see Tito as trying to get his money because the UFC is definitely getting theres. It doesn't bother me how he's going about getting his money and basic and better rights for other fighters because of how Dana White is about cutting fighters and the shit he says about other guys. This is the same guy that wasn't going to pay the guys on TUF 1 shit before they all threw a fit because of it. I think it has to be a mutual understanding and with 2 guys like Dana and Tito being the ones squaring off about it, it gets ugly. The thing I don't like is Dana gets a pass in all this. I'm not going to argue for Chuck, and Tito they are millionaires. But I think guys like GSP and Anderson deserve alot more money and the up and coming guys deserve to at least be paid enough where they can train full time. If you are good enough to make it to the UFC, you are good enough to get paid as a professional where you don't have to work a side job to get by.

So Ken Shamrock is doing the right thing by suing the UFC for releasing him with 2 fights left on his contract???....

Before I comment on this, let me make one thing perfectly clear. I am the furthest thing from a Ken Shamrock fan. It gave me great delight to see Tito light his head up 3 times. With that being said . . . .

It was one fight left for Shamrock. He signed a 2 fight deal before he fought Tito the 3rd time and that deal guranteed him 2 fights unless HE decided to retire. After Tito beat him again, he mentioned verbally he retired but never filled out the proper retirement paperwork. With contracts, verbal stuff doesn't mean anything. So as long as Shamrock never filled out paperwork, he should have received the 2nd of his 2 fights. Different fighters have different clauses written in their contract. Evidently, Shamrock's guranteed that he got 2 fights. He got 1 and from the way he put it, was forced into retirement or leaving the organization. Alot of fighters, especially aged fighters mention retirement after a tough loss. This may have been one of those moments. From what I've read about this, Shamrock had an almost instant change of heart and wanted his second fight to which the UFC wouldn't let him have it. With the way the UFC has been about Couture honoring his contract or else, you would think they would honor theirs. But it's hard to say. Shamrock has a case but it probably won't get him anything but a quiet settlement and a few grand. I hope he's done tainting his legacy.

When Tito made 2-3 plus million for his rematch with chuck i would say he was among the top pay, and willing to bet GSP or Hughes has never seen that kind of money for one fight.

Do you work for the UFC payroll department? Are you signing the fighter's checks? I'm saying you don't know 100% what these fighters are making. I'M talking about overall pay, what you and I both know about their BASE pay is what is constantly scrawled across this and other forums. I highly doubt their FINAL pay is what we see posted on the UFC payout links.

As far as fighters getting part of PPV sales, from what I understood only main event fighters get PPV revenue and Tito hasn't been in the main even since Liddell/Ortiz 2. Could that be a reason Tito is unhappy wit the money he has been receiving? Possibly, but its just speculation.

I DO believe Hughes at least, has seen close to Liddell/Ortiz payouts because he has a longstanding friendship wit Dana and a long track record as a PPV draw and main eventer.

I guess Randy isnt the only one that cant make up his damn mind.

I never liked Tito anyway. Off to EliteXC with him.

The Tito-Chuck feud made them both tons of money and it was Chuck's first big exposure and when you combine the dynamite in his hands and Tito's persona and marketability, you get this HUGE WHITE HOT FEUD that turned Chuck into a household name.
you may have been debating whoever about the chuck-tito feud, but

^^^i see nothing in this portion of your "debate" that relates anything even remotely close to the Tito/Chuck feud. Regardless of what you and whoever were debating, i disected this portion of your argument and just wanted to point out to you that this portion of your argument is CRAP because of the circumstances surrounding each of those fights..and I'm not talking about the "tito as in now." You mentioned mezger, matyushenko, wandy (2000), so I am speaking of the 1998-2001 tito ortiz. In this dissected portion of your "debate," you make absolutely NO mention of chuck liddell or the feud with tito, so let me say again.....your argument that i have posted above is CRAP

Much like Tito, she had tremendous potential, but eventually I had to let her go to another organization. It turned out better for both of us.

Ortiz has crossed over from selling a fight to just whining. If he starts actually performing and getting another organization attention that threatens the UFC, I'd be willing to bet they'd take him back. But for right now, he's been all-talk-and-no-action for too long, and I can't see the logic in paying multi-millions while guys are still fighting their asses off for 5+5, as hungry as Tito used to be.
