Werdum Already Wants Title Dispute In December
Quote:
Having beaten for the second time also-Brazilian Gabriel Napao, chuteboxer Fabricio Werdum returned to the list of top challengers for the UFC heavyweight belt, according to the president of the organization himself. But to remain at the top, the fighter has a tough task ahead of him: Philippino/American Brandon Vera.
Despite the loss at UFC 77 to Tim Sylvia, Vera, a Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, is coming off eight wins in a row against such names as Frank Mir, Mike Whitehead and Assuerio Silva.
To avoid any setbacks, Werdum has been applying himself in training, to show once again a dangerous mixture of muay thai and Jiu-Jitsu. Should he win, Werdum has no doubts: he wants Rodrigo Minotauro’s belt.
“Training has been really tough, intensive. Every day we train from 5 to 6, sometimes even seven hours per day. I’m sure it will be a good fight (against Vera), from the fact that I want the belt by year’s end. I’ll fight this one, but I’m already thinking of the next one, I’m going to concentrate on this fight, but in December I want to fight Minotauro to be able to take this belt,” said the fighter in an interview on the official Chute Boxe site.

well i thought it was atrocious that Dana was gunna give Werdum a title shot after he beat Gonzaga. it was a very UNIMPRESSIVE performance by both fighters to say the least.
but if he beats Vera (which i believe he will), id say he has argument for a title shot.
then the loser fights the winner of Lesnar/Coleman

They BETTER not hold Nog over till December.
That said, Vera's going to take Werdum. A fight between Minotauro and "The Truth" would be something.

What about Mir, I don't think Mir deserves any kind of title shot.
Vera handed him his ass in under 2 minutes.
Mir should have to beat 2 more average fighters or 1 good one to be mentioned for a title shot.
But without AA the title picture is weak. i mean you have Vera, Werdum who are at the top.
Mir who is working on it.
Fucking Eddie Sanchez LOL who is on a roll. Ill shit if he ever gets a title shot.
Herring and Kongo are each a win or so away from a title shot.
Its just so weak right now.

I think Werdum is at most two matches away from a title fight. I think he can get his title shot at the end of the year.

no Arlovski
he fits the puzzle perfectly for a title shot.
anyway, HW division died for UFC. Nog will probably hold the belt for a long time if it stays this way.

i agree thats why i didnt mention Mir LOL
im surprised they pulled the Mir/McCully fight cuz it would have been another good win for Frank.

All true, and I really don't think ANYONE wants to see a Herring/Nog IV.
