Who would be a better representative from NY to do this? Renzo Gracie runs / ran (?) a school there so I can see him being a decent rep, but I believe he lives in Jersey now. So who?
And he said respectable MMA event. You do know he is referring to the UFC, EliteXC, IFL etc... With that right? That they are the respectable MMA events.

I commend what he is trying to do but you do realize it's politicians that have to be convinced. And we are talking about Matt Serra, who f this and f that is regularly used in his vocabulary. Not to mention how he trashes people. I just don't think he's the best one to try to convince a bunch of politicians that MMA isn't bad.

Yes, but what will convince polititians are the voters that want it... Well that and money. I didn't take anything in that post saying that he was going to be the figure head of it... He is just the one trying to get people to ask for it.
As a former champion, an intelligent guy, and a business man I think he could be a good figure head though. I have a feeling he is more than capable of speaking intelligently without F'bombs and the such. I mean, the king of the F-Bomb (dana white) can even go through an interview without dropping one, I think Matt Serra can.
This is just my opinion though. I have never met the guy so I really cant judge his personality past what whatI have read and seen. He doesn't like Hughes and is vocal about it.
If Serra wasn't so vocal about his disdain for hughes would you want to see that fight? Would that matchup still be as intriguing? I don't think it would.

To be truthful, I'm a Matt Hughes fan and would watch him fight anyone.
I could go on a long tirade about how he's overrated and this and that, but after Hughes beats him, I see him taking one more UFC fight and then being cut.

I think he is to small for welter weight. he is much better suited for LW. I believe he is a solid mid tier fighter. He will give pretty much everyone a LW a good fight, but will have trouble with allot of them.
For some reason I see hughes having trouble with him. At first I thought Serra would win that one (not easily) but now I am more thinking it would be Hughes that would win. I don't no, I am having a hard time picking a winner with that one.
I am not really a huge fan of either fighter.

itll be easier to get it legalized in NY than in ontario, in the canadian criminal code, it has certain restrictions on prize fighting that need to be amended to allow mma, which is why mma is only regulated in quebec now.... At least the new yorkers dont have to go and amend the criminal code....

Props to Serra.. I can't deny it. The guy is trying to step up and make something happen.
Hopefully his mission succeeds.

I don't think that a rematch is warrented after the beat down Serra just got. It was like watching Hughes/GSP 2 and 3 all over again. It would make sense only if Serra beat 2 top 10 guys in a row which I think is doubtful.
As far as how many states are MMA illigal still:
Maine, Maryland, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota somewhat, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island somewhat but who cares, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. These are for Pro mma, some of these allow amateur.
States for Kickboxing or MMA
