I totally disagree that Shields has better Cardio, not many in mma have better cardio than Hughes, and I don't think Shields is one of them, he may have cardio equal to Hughes, but in no way better, Shields has better BJJ no one will question that, but hughes has better take downs, and better GnP, Shields has it in the stand up game, but who really doesn't have better stand up than Hughes. Also, experience goes to Hughes.
I would see hughed GnP in the 3rd.

We can argue that Shields won the fight, but Fitch's hand was raised, granted I think that Shields has better BJJ, Fitch won. I did watch most of the other fight in which Jake got the RNC, so its not like I am a noob and didn't know that, but I just wanted to bring to light Fitch winning that fight. Palma, I was talking about Jake in MMA where all of his Sub victories have come from the RNC. Jake's best shot at GSP is to take him down, there he has the tools to pass andsubmit, but from the bottom I do not see him winning this fight.

Didn't you just post the fight where Jake had Fitch in at least subs from the bottom?
Also, if you aren't a noob and know anything about Shields, then you certainly know that Shields' two biggest strengths on the ground are his ability to pass gaurd and sweep from the bottom.
And just because noone mentioned it, That Fitch exhibition that was posted must have been several years back, Fitch looked like he was at least 200 lbs. in that video.

Hence why I said that he would win if he got on top, but I do not think that he will sweep GSP. If he does I believe it will be a scramble with both fighters standing up.

I still remember Cesar Gracie stating that Nick Diaz would beat Gomi 10 times out of 10. After that it was hard to take him serious.
1. Fedor fought Arona a long time ago, in one of his first fights. That's like comparing the GSP that fought in TKO to the one today.
2. Shields would get outclassed and destroyed by BJ, that's hilarious. He would also get smashed by GSP. He could beat Hughes, but Hughes skills have always been overrated.

Gotta go with Jake shields on this one. The guy is young, hungry and extremely talented and fierce. I think that Jake Shields would walk right through Hughes just like GSP did.

What is there to argue about? Shields clearly won... the ref just made a mistake. You make it sound like Fitch won a split decision or something.
And I don't deny that Shields has won most of his MMA fight with a RNC, but my point was he is capable of much more. Even off his back Shields has a better guard then GSP does top control... If GSP stayes in Shields gaurd long enough he will get swept at some point.

Everyone hates on Matt Hughes cause he lost to GSP twice. Thats just a bad matchup for Hughes cause GSP is so athletic. GSP is the top WW in the world and there is no shame in loosing to him. 9 out of 10 MMA fighters would loose to GSP. Everyone doesnt say Rich Franklin sucks or is past his prime cause he lost to Anderson twice.
Hughes is going to have a hard time beating someone he cant take down and thats a proven fact. Shields standup is better then Hughes but its nothing great. I dont see Jake totally dominating Matt in the standup. It would be a great fight if Hughes and Shields fought but I think Matt would come out on the winning side.
Shields matches up better against Hughes then he does against BJ and GSP. Both are superior strikers and Penn's Bjj is probably the best in the world. Shields would have a hard time taking GSP down like everyone else and GSP stand up game would destroy Shields.
I really wish Jake would make some of these fights happen and come to the UFC. He loves the fact that people have to debate these fights instead of them actually happening.

want the MMA (cage fights) list, or the whole thing, grappling included?
His resume is light years ahead of any active any UFC WW, sans Hughes, GSP, & Karo (Karo has fought top teir, but also lost to them).
Who has Fitch, Kos, Diego, Alves, Swick, Davis beaten that can compare to Shield's victories?
You can't play the "Who has Jake Shield's fought" because the same sword cuts both ways.
MMA Math be damned, Dana knows, that's why he offered Shields a half assed contract back in November (knowing what EXC had on the table). He knows that Shields would come in and clear out his WW division. The only 2 guys hovering around WW that would be favored in a fight w/ Shields are GSP and Penn.
