I meant fighting wise, Im sure he is alot better outside of the cage then Melvin. He is getting alot of hype becuase he can knock guys out but he has crap for his ground game and his standup is still overrated. He is just an explosive brawler who happens to be a great athlete...... just like Melvin. Rashad might not be exciting but he can finish fights, and I think he finishes James in the first or second the same way he did Lambert.

I just dont think thats a good comparison. Irvin is much more skilled than he gets credit for...dont get me wrong he is not a very well rounded fighter but he does have a little skill on the ground where as melvin's ground game does not exist. I think Irvin actually has a couple submission wins in his career. I know its not his strength but he has a little skill there. Also rashad doesnt finish fights. he finished 2 people in his last 10 fights or something like that....i do agree though that Rashad may be to much for Irvin, but i still hope the sandman puts him to sleep via flying knee.

I liked him the first time I seen him fight, which was against Doug Marshall a few years back, when he completely destroyed him with knees to the at big stupid freakin head of Marshall. Then I even liked him more when he came to the UFC and had the flying Knee to Terry Martin.
He is very respectful of his opponents, and is a viscous striker. I do think he needs to refine his ground game a bit to become more rounded fighter.
WAR IRVIN! 2rd KO vs Evans

Irvin has fought some solid comp and really only lost to Bonnar and Thiago Silva (due to injury) and has beaten some pretty solid guys. I think he's way past being compared to Melvin, but to each his own.

Where's the hype he's getting? I haven't seen any. I haven't seen one person say IRVIN NEW CHAMP IN '08! no one's said RAMPAGE FEARS IRVIN! he's got little to no hype behind him. I don't think in this entire thread someone picked him to beat rashad. a few people have said it would be nice if he KOed rashad, but no one's picking him. How can you call a guy with absolutely no hype all hype? its preposterous.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no. Last I checked Irvin didn't oil up his body, snort coke, and then threaten to kill another fighter. Last I checked Irvin also has a decent ground game(where as Melvins is non existant)
In terms of ground game is Irvin among the elite? Absolutly not. But is he decent? For sure. Decent enough atleast to avoid being submitted or finished on the ground by Rashad. He's only been subbed once,by Bonnar who is pretty damn slick on the ground. This was also 2+ years ago,I'm sure Irvins ground game has matured a ton. He won't be submitted by Rashad, and the guy has a phenominal chin,so it's unlikely Rashads gonna TKO him at any point in the fight.
Saying he's the next Melvin Guillard is just so ridiculous Also claiming people are believing the "Irvin hype" is retarded. Wheres the hype?? I'm just cheering for him because Evans is boring as shit. And I've always been impressed with the guy. Ever since his picture perfect flying knee on Martin I've considered myself a fan.
War motherfuckin Sandman.
