If Swick LnPs him it could be. But I am sure you are right.

Davis is getting overrated, but he has the skills to take this.

but Swick has good striking, speed, and much reach on Marcus. and Davis got head kicked just a few UFCs ago, so we'll see.

Has Swick ever LnP'd anyone?

I'm going to go way out on a limb and say Swick by TKO. I think he'll have the weight cut sorted and bring punches in bunches. He's too fast and too strong for Davis, with yards of reach. I really like Davis, but I think he will want to keep it standing, relying on superior boxing to keep him out of trouble and give the fans a show. But it won't be enough. Davis is all heart, a hugely game fighter, but he hasn't faced someone of Swicks size and skill yet. I called Davis as a guy whose bandwagon was going to get new rims and paint in 2008, but I still think Swick takes this.

I'm looking forward to this fight more than I am Serra/GSP II.

It's difficult when I really like both fighters, so I have to distance myself and be more clinical. I think Davis is more charismatic and has huge heart, but I don't think he's as skilled.

If Mike doesn't sort out the weight cut, it's a whole new ballgame, but if he's on point, he takes this.

Dude, have you ever seen any of Swicks fights? The only LnP done in his fights is by the guys he's fighting.

This is going to be a great fight, I like both guys alot, and think this is the fight they both need to either rise up or become the gatekeeper @ 170lbs.

I expect it to be a WAR and mark my words, this will be a FOTY candidate!

i have a bad feeling that swick is going to get koed. he'll start a flurry and marcus will nail him with a counter. i hate joe silva, why does he have to set one of these guys up to lose?

i think that if Swick comes out and trys too hard to stand with davis, davis will knock the shit out of him. Davis has some SERIOUSLY mean power and the accuracy to back it up thanks to his extended boxing career. Swick is no slouch on his feet either, but I give the edge to Davis any day. The guys that Swick holds his KO's against aren't what we'd consider cream of the crop. I say Davis by late first round KO/TKO.

And for the people that are saying Swick was LnP they obviously didn't watch the fight. Sure it was boring as shit, it was just more that he couldnt really hurt burkman... Burkman even said after the fight he felt good enough to fight again that night. Not to mention the fight should of gone to Burkman...but thats what he gets for letting it go to decision. Least I felt Burkman won the fight

How did Burkman win that fight? By getting his takedowns stuffed repeatedly? By his fancy, yet ineffective little kick maneuver in the second?

UFC fights are scored based on effective aggression, not simply aggression. Controlling the octagon is also a factor. So when Burkman tried to take Swick down and failed, he's a) not being effective in his aggression; and b) allowing Swick to control the fight.

It was [in Swick's own words] a horrible fight, but Swick had the better standup, and he controlled the fight grappling by not allowing Burkman to do anything.

There is no way Burkman won that fight. Watch it again.

I really like Davis, but I don't see him as the elite striker that you do. He's on a huge streak; but half of those wins come from backwater orgs, and none of them come over a fighter of Swick's calibre.

Blah said it well. With the WW division so muddled, there is no reason for Joe Silva to make this fight, unless he's desperately trying to keep other fighters from muddying the water further.

ok maybe not as skilled as Swick, but ill bet in a striking battle any day of the week that Paul Taylor whoops Swick's ass! and Marcus Davis beat him...granted it was on the ground, a place where probably Swick has much much better skills, but all fights start on the feet. Davis has the advantage in stand up over Swick, and if it stays up there why should Marcus try and go to the ground?

this will be an awesome fight, and im still going with a Davis TKO!

Well, I like both these guys and I agree I think Davis has a slight advantage on the feet. However, Swick is going to have a mile of reach on him and he knows how to use it. I could see either one of them taking this on the feet. I think it's going to be a great fight and I don't think there will be any losers here.
