My bad Ramma, I apologize. Marvin Eastman is NOT a good striker. Would a good striker leave himself so open vs Travis Lutter?? Would a good striker take one right on the chin from Travis Lutter?? Did you see his fight vs Terry Martin?? Technically speaking, it was pathetic. Maybe you all meant to say Eastman's best quality is his striking, but it's sub par, what 205 that has adequate striking wouldn't demolish him?? AS MENTIONED, Lutter demolished him.

Eastman come from a Muay Thai background (and wrestling). His striking is his best quality and he is technically a good striker.
It's not on a world class level and this link doesn't exactly support claims that he is a good striker, but it was one of the most entertaining fights in K-1.
If you guys want to see impressive standup from Rampage look no further then his kickboxing match with Ciril Abidi (sp?).
and that is bullshit to say that Rampage's fights with Wandy were on short notice, he called him out at PRIDE 25 (almost fought him in the ring) and was training to fight him at PRIDE 26 but Wandy hurt his knee and he entered the tournament specifically to fight him. His fight with him at High Octane he trained for months for as well........

It is possible that Rampage said that for that reason, but I don't see why he would lie about it. It isn't like Rampage had that bad of a showing.. he KOed the guy after all.
Off topic, but that's the same bullshit people dropped on AA after his fight with O'Brien.
People think it's easy to knock a guy out. If he does it in the second round, they want it in the first. If he does it in the first round they want it in the first minute. If he does it in the first minute, he has to keep doing that every fight forever.
If he doesn't--at any point--it proves he sucks, right?

Good points Neo, rep'd.
I still believe all this is to hype a rematch with Wanderlei because he wants a shot at redemption. I still think he will end up face first on the cage floor out cold.

Yea I was going to refer to the K1 match I saw of him for all the people who say Rampages hands are so much better Now. I actually think they were better then. haha Anyway thanks.

And you say I know nothing about MMA. Obviously you have no idea what your looking at or what good striking looks like so I'll stop debating with you....it's not even fair.
Anyway, to whom this may concern, I found this bit of info that is probably more closer to the truth of the excuse Rampage gave for his losses. I misquoted bad preparation for short notice:
Quote:
"That was a time [2003-2005, with three losses via T(KO)] when I was sparing with amateurs preparing for a professional fight. I don’t think I was at my best during those times. I’m not going to lie. It was preparation…. I know I needed sparing partners, and I’m not ashamed to say when something isn’t going right. I found some pretty good sparing partners, and I’m getting my (butt) whooped every day and that’s the way it needs to be. They frustrate the hell out of me, but it makes me better. I’m more disciplined in the way I eat and train. I used to have to cut 15 pounds the day before the fight, but I don’t have to do that anymore. That makes me stronger, and I’ve been working on some things, but I haven’t been able to show it in my last couple of fights. I haven’t been able to show my new side"

I know what you mean, with a lot of fans (hardcore and not), it is either perfection or a bad performance... no grey area

exactly hes probably trying to hype him up so wand will actually fight like he once did. you seen how dissapointed he was when chuck beat him. he wants to light a fire under his ass so he can get a rematch with wand at his best. rampage did say he only wants to fight people at there best.
