In two PRIDE fights with Wanderlei, I saw one questionable call. It was a stand up.
Other than that, Rampage got his ass handed to him, twice. He can make up all the excuses in the world.
Even if he did get another shot at Wanderlei, at this point, the guy's best days are more than likely behind him. Too much bare knuckled fighting and head butting.
And I would still pick Wanderlei to win. Rampage is not good against good clinch fighters.
Oh, and P. friggin S., Rampage got some of those thieving refs to go his way too, so I don't want to hear it.
For a guy who followed mma since UFC 1 (how many times have I heard that?) you obviously never followed PRIDE, thus your opinion on this said topic is clearly lacking knowledge and understanding. Anybody who followed PRIDE remembered his fights vs Wanderlei and the build up for both fights, so clearly you never watched it during it's time and are pulling up ghost quotes (Rampage would never say he had no time to prepare for his fights vs Wand when it's obvious that's b.s.) Rampage's stand up has improved "tremendously" since Juanito?? He dominated Chuck in PRIDE, more then he did in the UFC fight, standing and on the ground. Did his fights vs Lindland and Don Sik convince you he's so much better at striking now?? Or the fact Eastman and Henderson were both landing on him?? I find it amusing you use mma math considering Wand and Rampage have already fought twice. Ever heard of styles make fights?? Wanderlei beat Hendo as well. Rampage had an easier time with Arona, kind of, and Wand absolutely destroyed Sakuraba, a guy that tapped Rampage. I mean Rampage and Hendo could've went either way, and that fight didn't show any technical brilliance from Rampage, as a matter of fact none of his fights since joining Juanito have, he's the exact same fighter. I have all of his fights including KOTC on DVD, he is one of my favorite fighters, but that doesn't cloud my judgements in regards to the fact he's real good, but not great.

Ok, Rampage dominated Chuck in Pride more so than in the UFC?? I think your the one who fell and bumped your head. How the hell did Chuck get dominated more in the first fight when Rampage KHTFO in the 1st rd. in their second? You don't male sense. Rampage's punches were crisper, cleaner, and his defense was improved. I never saw the Don Sik fight but against Lindland Rampage dominated ever standup exchange wobbling Lindland a few times. The only thing that kept Lindland in that fight was superior wrestling. Hendo and Eastman are both pretty good strikers, what' your point? And Page KO'd eastman. People say Rampage didn't look good against Eastman but Eastman is a pretty good striker and a pro fighter. Styles also make fights. Not too many fighters just run threw Eastman anyway. All I sid was Rampage improved, I didn't say he was fucking Pro-Boxer level of striking. What the hell was your point of saying Hendo and Eastman landed on him?
What is this counter MMA math your using? IMO, the reason Wand and Shogun destroyed Rampage was because Rampage wasn't as good as he is now, simple! Jaunito even said Rampage has improved vastly since he started training him. I guess you think he's lying? Also, when he fought Saku, Rampage had shit for sub-defense. Well Pride was ran by a bunch of idiots and a great marketing plan. Wand was much bigger, stronger, and technically better than Saku in the standup dept. Saku was really about 185 soak and wet and could have probably dropped. Most other Japanese fighters are cans.
Still you havent named 1 top ten fighter Wand has beaten, and Mark Hunt wasn't even a true MMArtist at the time, Wand should have subbed him.

There hasn't been too many fights where Wanderlei actually looked bad while losing. He always put up a good fight before he ever lost/went down. Rampage got raped in his losses. But rampage has gotten damn better in comparison to his past. If the Wanderlei of old were to go against the new and improved rampage, I can't say who could win that one.
This isn't the first time that Rampage has spoken out against corruption and fixed fights in Pride. He doesn't strike me as a liar...who knows. I suspect that there WAS a lot of funny business going on. When you have the mafia that deep inside of a company it's all about money.
I think Wand is a beast though...and I think he wipes out a lot of guys in the LHW division. I don't see him beating Rampage in the cage though.
